Thanks to the IEA for a good event last night

The IEA had 100 acceptances for a full house last night to discuss my bookĀ  “We don’t believe you”. (The book isĀ  available on Amazon) The questions went on for almost two hours . We discussed everything from the collapse of traditional political parties to Brexit, from the Trump phenomenon to austerity economics, fromĀ  the middle Eastern wars to the distrust in the media. I will draw on parts of the discussion in blogs to come.

    It’s all very simple.

Trump and the ERG/Leave/Brex Party are not extreme. They are just the old Conservative options that were removed by all the others, especially Theresa May in her Nasty Party speech.

I cannot believe that my views are seen as rebellious, extremist and undesirable. I would have been described as a Liberal in the 1980s.

      It is indeed simple.

      They are all very extreme.

Yes, like Anonymous, I am an extreme classical Liberal!

The BBC ā€˜comedianā€™ Jo Brand has ā€˜jokedā€™ about throwing battery acid, instead of milk shakes, over people she doesnā€™t agree with on Brexit. Any chance she will be prosecuted for hate crime and incitement to violence? Or indeed that the BBC will be, for providing a platform to someone glamorising what is potentially serious assault or even worse?

Would she have said what she said about women, or gays or immigrants?

If it was humorous then surely the sentiment can be aimed at any demographic.

Jo Brand was quick to get Carol Thatcher sacked for poor use of words as I recall.

Danny Baker got instantly sacked for a stupid catoon posting that he admitted to, hurting nobody.
A so-called comedian makes a horrific comment that might tip people with mental problems over the edge and do what she suggests. There are many many examples of acid being thrown in recent times that not only have destroyed lives, but actually lead to a suicide. The BBC mus sack her for good on all media – tv and radio. Anybody that thinks it was funny must need help.

    Your book should’ve been titled

‘The death of democracy and freedom’

And your party with their constant capitulations to Labour’s strategy of crushing democratic sovereignty and personal freedoms is primarily to blame

You really should post these events on YouTube. You could have a large following like Jordan Pieterson.

Good idea. A daily or at least frequent YouTube video of 2-3 mins like the ones dan Hannan does would be a good way to get to younger voters. Then do videos of events such as the one at the IEA. V simple to organise technically.

True there is an appetite for realism rather than idealism among the YouTube generation.

Did the New Knight get a NI! today?

Is there a recording of the event?

In the background when William tried taking Palin’s head off

I’m glad the event was successful, Sir John; I wanted to come but was prevented by a work commitment. Your book has arrived from Amazon and I’ve begun to read it. I like your brevity, the compressed style and restrained tone – it makes the facts and your arguments all the more telling.

Sir John, should we take your lack of comment on the campaign launches of candidates for the leadership of your party as indicating a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the options presented?

Currently reading the book (had a couple of weeks but had other demands on my time).

Points of interest thus far …

analysis of 2008 crash – we (including me) blamed the bankers … but John apportions blame on the policies of the regulators (for more details read his book).

Target2 scheme – had never heard of it before reading his book … currently investigating how to get at the figures …

I am not surprised that it was a sell out and went on so long. I was very sorry not to be there. I am finding the book compelling reading and very thought provoking. Many thanks.

Thanks so much for your help in getting your blog readers along to a brilliant discussion. It was so refreshing to hear such informed, intelligent and reassuring views that ring so true and make so much sense unlike the MSM doctrine we hear every day. It is such a shame you are not more widely heard and like another comment here I wonder if you can consider how to branch out into Moggcast or YouTube style messaging to spread the word further?
You commented that you are Rarely if ever allowed to finish your sentences on most media so imagine being able to intelligently address project fear hysteria without interruption and how helpful that could be. Hereā€™s hoping…

I was fortunate enough to be one of the attendees. It was very good presentation and Q&A and I ordered your book on Amazon afterwards. I still believe it would be a good thing for the ERG to become more than a parliamentary group though as its clear not all within the Conservative Party are committed to upholding the referendum result and leaving the EU.

what would the EU have done , if the UK had not joined the EU but Ireland did .
What would the EU decide on there side of the border they would have two options
Either a hard border on there side or a lot of paperwork . Now it is all done by computer on all borders and 2% physical checks. It just shows that the EU thinks the British people are stupid , and it is all a song and dance , thank god at least few MPs can think.
    Regards Norman

Ordered your book yesterday, Sir John. A small way to say thank you for this daily blog. Thank you!
