Contributions to this site

This week when I have been very busy the volume and length of contributions has been too great for me to moderate. I will now be deleting more to keep up. If you want your item posted please keep it relatively short, do not multiple post on an excessive scale, summarise other people’s views rather than trying to post complex or unknown links and avoid allegations against named individuals or companies.

John, if you will feed some people’s fixations then they will post in the manner of the fixated.

    That is, obsessively and repeatedly.

      Dear Mr. Redwood,

      @Martin in Cardiff,

I believe your current record stands at 18 posts in a single day. One might conclude you are one of the fixated.

Is this why you post, Martin?

If so, it’s quite good of you to offer your own personal mea culpa.

He is not feeding anyone’s fixations. Try giving some support to a man who burns the candle at both ends to accommodate what you have to say, and does so at his own expense.

Hear hear Steve. God, people on this site are becoming seriously selfish and self obsessed. I bet they get more time to themselves than John does.

          ======

Not just this site. It seems to be the way people are these days. You only have to walk out the front door to see it. It’s everywhere.

This site is a breath of fresh air in today’s world, people should take note of what our host is saying or we could end up losing it.

OK….that’s enough from me. Good night Sir Redwood and contributors, hope you have a pleasant weekend.

I am intrigued as to why you operate a blog in the first place. As an MP you are unable to express your true thoughts on most issues nobbled as you are by party loyalty and I suppose a loose form of collective responsibility. So what’s the point of it?

I want to know what Sir John Redwood REALLY thinks about this nation’s capture and indeed the USA’s descent into a dystopian Marxist abyss from which the return will be tortuous

I want to know why an MP of your standing still remains in a party that bends to a politics that you yourself despise?

Not from UK but find it hard to understand how vaccination of Queen and the Duke can be top of the news on most British media. Am glad I live in a Republic

    1. Fred H
      January 9, 2021

Well you wouldn’t understand, but Our Queen is worth more than all the MPs of any party in any Government.
The like will never be seen again, at least from what we know of the rest of the firm (family).

      January 9, 2021

I believe it is top News because many elderly people aren’t turning up for their vaccination because they are worried about it. Many people in this Country respect and admire our Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh greatly and this will, even if you don’t believe it, give many confidence to carry on.

Ten out of ten Martin. Meanwhile, fantasy Brexit, which JR and his fellow “Leave.eu” Brexiteers, (now shifting to Ireland to keep the “.eu” domain name); told us, these import/export customs border problems, would easily be solved by downloading an app from iPhones.

Unfortunately, this yet to be built software, has yet to build an algorithm that can spot inside a forty foot container, the difference between horsemeat; prime beef or one hundred human stowaways.

    1. a-tracy
      January 9, 2021

The simple fact is acorn we shouldn’t need any documentation to send goods to Northern Ireland as it is part of the United Kingdom, it was a spiteful act from the EU. From the minute Gove agreed to the checks from the mainland the software should have been prepared.

All customs are spot checks, it’s all bullshit. They’ve lost a wallet and that’s all they truly care about.

It is sad that some try to hijack this for their own free rides Sir John as they get more noticed due to your successful track record based on sound common sense over the years. If they had their own website it would not get noticed and disappear without trace. It is so easy for cheap shots to criticise in many underhand ways. Many other websites are intolerant of rants etc. I think you have weathered many storms in teacups that have been instigated by the MSM over the years which is why they keep inviting your insightful views. Many of us are extremely grateful as you know.
The irony is many detractors do not recognise you defend their free speech to a fault but at least they reveal their true colours without realising it. Thank you for your multiple successful political marathons over the years where lesser mortals have fizzled out.

What is the point of the moderation in the first place? Is it to benefit from the wisdom of your readers? In which case get your office staff to do this and then they can pass on any particularly interesting comments.

Or is it because you fear there will be offensive comments? Again, you could get your office staff to do the moderation – or move to post-moderation, where you only vet comments if you receive a complaint about them.

Reply I do not have any staff. This is my personal website. Moderation is for the reasons set out many times

Unbelievable, the topic is the workload involved in running the site, and it’s exacerbation by hijacking and obsessive multiple posts.

Now what do we see ?……yes, hijacking etc. I have to wonder if some people actually bother to read what our host has written.

I’ll keep it simple. Unless the vaccination programme is well under way by the end of February, with daily cases, hospitalisations and deaths all down, you are likely to see a wholesale rebellion by the young and by small businesses and the self employed against restrictions.

That will be followed by a witchhunt against all of the highly paid public sector bigwigs who have repeatedly said “We’re all in this together” and haven’t meant it. It will be richly deserved.

    Dear Sir John Redwood,
I wish I could contribute more but don’t seem able for the reasons you give and because of how high the standard of comments usually present on this site are , to ever advance.

There is a level of wit and wisdom here which often relieves my feelings of unease and for that I am most thankful.

I will thus restrict this contribution to expressing my appreciation for all of your estimable contributions to this great country. Thank you.

I want to be challenged. I want to hear views that challenge me.
