Were you able to outline to people at the Alzheimer (sic) Society’s stand the huge improvements you will be proud to be making in care for all those people living with dementia and their carers? A diagnosis without ongoing support and care is not worth the paper it’s written on and is guaranteed to cause more problems than it solves. As you will have seen in ‘Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure’, people waiting and waiting and waiting for support, while the people who care for them within their own families grow more and more isolated and crying out for help. One priority that the government (do we still have one of them?) needs to turn its attention to. This is a national issue, rather than a local issue.
