Interruption of service

I am sorry the site was down yesterday. The server had problems affecting various sites. I am grateful to EccentricCoder who handle the technical functioning for me for getting it up and running using new arrangements. I  am glad  it did run a bit yesterday. There has been no interruption to my routine of a post a day.

Good to hear it was just a technical issue, I was worried it was the result of heavy flack for being to close to the target.

I think you have a target on your back now you’ve been elevated to the Lords. We can expect more of the same.

Good that it came back so quickly and before I got too many withdrawal issues! IT is hugely vulnerable as we saw with the 2025, Marks & Spencer (M&S) ransomware cyber attack, resulting in stolen customer data (names, addresses, order history) and severe disruption to online services. The incident, blamed on third-party access, is expected to cost the company up to £300 million. Many other attacks too at airports, the NHS, banks…

FYI – the M&S attack was from India via their IT company(Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS)). It was the same source that hit Jaguar Landrover(JLR) at the same time. Although TATA also owns JLR so it could be said to be an ‘in-house’ attack in that instance. Either way it cost UK Businesses many millions

I’m amazed that such a busy man has time to do this ‘Blog’ every day Lord John. There’s always something of interest and often the urge to comment! 🙂
    Thank You.

Did you lose comments that had not been updated prior to the server going down?

Reply I lost amendments to my post and comments I had posted.

Could be that you may need to employ more moderation to the comments – it seems that some are getting away with more than a fair share of attention like for instance that ‘Lynn somebody’ which is only driving commentary off-course and taking from the fluency resulting in a gunging of the system and an interruption of service.
