âWe will not bring the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights into UK law.
âWe continue to believe that No deal is better than a bad deal for the UK.â
It also confirmed that we will take back âcontrol of our lawsâ and âWe will control immigrationâ. âWe will pursue free trade with European markets, and secure new free trade agreements with other countriesâ
It is difficult to see how an MP who supported this Manifesto can support the current Withdrawal Agreement.
All MPs should remember the words of the government leaflet to all households before the referendum:
âThis is your decision. We will implement what you decideâ

Absolute delusion if you think that that will happen. The UK has always had the power to remove, after 3 months, European immigrants who are unable to support themselves. We should be asking why we never did (by the way, we were always allowed blue passports too if we wanted them).
A post Brexit government will have little choice but to amend the rules for foreign workers, almost certainly favouring Europe. Who else do you think is going to be picking the fruit and vegetable and working in minimum wage factory jobs? Do you think that there will be a rush of Brits to fill those slots?

Couldn’t have put it better myself.
Struggling to find a half-way-house that pleases both sides means that both winning and losing mean nothing. Democracy depends upon political propositions being won or lost in a popular vote and then the winning side enacting those proposals. The winners win; the losers lose … until the next time. Accepting this, we all know where we stand.
May’s approach has encouraged and legitimised the continued campaigning of Remainers because her liberal, p.c. driven politics cannot accept the basic rule that The Winner Takes It All.

My team, Manchester City, recently won the Carabao cup by beating Chelsea on penalties by the smallest of margins. It was agreed well beforehand that is how the matter would be settled if a result could not be arrived at during the normal course of play.
I don’t hear Chelsea supporters demanding a replay. These remainers want a replay of the EU referendum, even before the result of the first has been implemented!

I believe absolutely in democracy. So explain why everyone on this site keeps arguing the British people want No Deal? Last time I looked, the No Deal petition had 446,000 signatures and the Revoke Article 50 had 4,200,000 signatures. It doesn’t seem democratic at all.

Remain’s share of the popular vote is no higher than in 2016 (Source: Professor John Curtis, one our best pollsters) and the most recent Daily Express/Comres poll puts Remains’ share at 45%.
Remain has the advantage that it has only one option – to be sucked into an ever more powerful, resource grabbing and bossy, Federal European SuperState. We might, if we are lucky, have as much influence on EU Governance as Texas has on USA Governance.
The Leave vote is fragmented into No Deal (the most popular Leave option), Mrs May’s deal (highly unpopular), the EEA/Norway option and Mr Corbyn’s soft Brexit (if different). No Deal is the favourite among Conservative Associations and, according to the Sunday Telegraph, has risen to 44%.
So any additional test of public opinion must be hierarchical:
(1) Leave vs Remain
(2) Best Leave option (Leave voters only)
I think that any such choice should only be offered after we have left the EU for two months at least, and is best made at a General Election.

I think there are two possible (well theoretically) middle grounds. One is staying in the European and trying to reform it from the inside, stop political integration and get some powers back. To a small extent Cameron tried to do th I and failed. The other is to just leave and from the outside seek a free trade deal and seek to collaborate on a case by case basis for mutual interest, whilst giving value and consideration to the rest of the world. I think this second middle ground is that of the so-called extremists, it has been misrepresented as extremism. It is merely seeking to do from the outside (have control but give way when mutually beneficial) what proved impossible from the inside (give power away but ask for back when national problems outstrip union).
I prefer the leave with no deal middle ground job the remain and try to nfluence middle ground. The WA is neither of these.

The Referendum was not “rubbish” as you described it in your earlier post above. And if that is what you think about it, what credence should be given to the petitions that you quote? None should be your answer.
The Referendum was clear and specific. So were the reasons given by voters at the time based on a significant survey sample of 12,000 people. The primary reason given by Leave voters was “the principle that decisions about the UK should be taken in the UK”. The primary reason given by Remain voters were that “the risks to voting to leave the UK looked too great when it came to things like the economy jobs and prices”.
Nothing has changed fundamentally in this division of opinion. Leavers want to take back control; Leavers want to stick with nurse for fear of something worse. It is why the continuing Remain campaign keeps its focus on Project Fear; it is what worked as the principal persuader in the Referendum.
Well I should modify that comment. One thing has changed and that is public perception of Parliament and MPs failing to implement its result. For that the primary responsibility rests with Mrs May.

The democratic process was we voted in a referendum to leave or remain in the EU, the government promised to implement that decision. The decision was to leave the EU, not remain a little bit. The government has not yet kept its side of the contract.

I think that is an uninformed comment. There is plenty of psychological and economic evidence that compromise is a bad option. (Serving olives with ice cream might be a compromise between two people who each like one option, but …) In terms of one alternative approach – negotiation – Tusk offered a Canadian style free trade agreement back in October after Chequers. This is of course more aligned to what D.D. was negotiating, and is what Sir John (and I think the ERG) wish to table. It is very strange that this partially negotiated result has been pushed to the side, it is easy to recover by May tabling it with the EU, which the EU would have been free to negotiate (within its own rules) if the Government had just allowed the UK to leave on the 29th – mitigate, exit negotiate.
Another approach when the compromise is worse than either of the two ‘pure’ options is to seek the wisdom of the crowd to make the best choice to between them. This is what Cameron did with the referendum.
We are in a situation where the UK followed a sensible wisdom of the crowd approach, was lining up to move to a sensible negotiated solution (Canada plus) and was putting in place short term responses to mitigate the transition. For reasons that only history will show the civil service, PM, government and both Houses of Parliament went against this.
I think much has been uninformed, unethical and biased by an elite. Sir John’s stated approach, (re)table a free deal and just leave would have got things back on a grown up democratic path and allowed a relationship with the EU to recover.

Indeed the WA is incompatible with the Conservative manifesto, so no Tory MP should vote for it. We need a reset. New PM, back to square one, propose a comprehensive FTA with the EU, with WTO Brexit as the backstop. A good starting point would be to unilaterally guarantee rights of EU citizens in the UK, and to propose arbitration to settle departing payments (in both directions). The bogus issue of the Irish border needs to be set aside. After all, what could be a more flagrant breach of the GFA than changing the status of NI without the consent of its people, as the WA allows?

The entire political process is now brought low and into disrepute by people of appallingly low calibre who should have been weeded out at the selection process.
No-one should be any doubt as to the depth of the anger felt towards the duplicitous Theresa May and the remain members of her government and party. And yet even now, there are those like the contemptible Rory Stewart who creep around her.
We, the people, have to get tough with these losers, but the Tories aren’t on their own. Labour, the Lib Dems, and the SNP are awash with them. Those of us who are across our brief and who are not afraid to hold them to account, must do so.
I aim to ask every canvasser in the local elections and every election thereafter, how they stand on the EU. If they give the slightest indication they have any sympathy for the EU whatsoever, I will make it known they will not get my vote. The last thing we want is yet more of them on the bottom rung of the political ladder.
Bitter? Yes! But then I am justified, for I do not take kindly to being conned by people whose wages I pay to do my bidding, yet fail lamentably.

Looking at the 2017 manifesto again I’m wondering where all that guff about a future partnership with the EU came from. The nation did not vote for a partnership, it voted to be rid of the EU once and for all and by implication to govern itself free of foreign interference in the future. I absolutely do not recall even a passing mention in the referendum of a future partnership. Such a relationship would only act to dilute precious sovereignty and so must be shunned at all cost. Trade between businesses in different countries does not require international partnerships, it can proceed perfectly satisfactorily under the framework provided by the WTO.

The EUâs WA should never be signed under any circumstances.
It is designed to transfer our country from one treaty we did not like and voted to leave but where we did have voting and veto rights to a new treaty where we would have no voting or veto rights over our laws and taxes and with no lawful means of exit.
It is beyond my comprehension that it could be promoted by any UK PM of any party.
If the EUâs WA does not pass through the HoC and the HoC still votes against leaving on WTO terms, then come April 12th the Conservative Party should inform the EU that the extension would be used to prepare fresh negotiations with a fresh leader and a new negotiating team.
In the meantime the UK will definitely proceed with MEP elections and will take part in all Council of Minister meetings and votes/vetos as a full member of the EU.

The HoC has already voted to leave on the 29th March. That is the law. I do not know what legality is then atfached to leave if we move the date.
If we leave, WTO terms are the only option until such time as a FTA is agreed. Again this is why I advocate leaving onWTO terms, submitting a draft trade agreement followed by invoking Art 24 of GATT which ensures current trading arrangements prevail until a final FTA is agreed and implemented. If we leave according to the WA we will no longer be constrained by being members of the Cu or the SM..the red lines are accounted for.. If we leave according to the WA then we can start to discuss terms for our future relationship with them as set out in the political declarations. We should be very careful about making treaties with anyone who seeks to bind us evermore closely, for there is always a reason for that catch. In the EU’s case, our ultimate subjugation is what they are after. I don’t think the Erg and Leavers have thought this through properly..if only Liam Fox could tell us about the big trade deals he has lined up we might feel better about things- but so far he has said little and some of us have our doubts about brexit at this time. First fill the leadership gap and then it could be sorted in a week. There are two choices, stay or leave. Leave is the only choice that satisfies the referendum result and disconnects us from the EU. Doing it without a deal levels the playing field for any future relationship with the EU. We could also go flat out unencumbered for those trade deals we want. To me it is a no brainer but I only have one vote. Start thinking positive. Slightly imperfect decisions taken positively and carried through with vigour are infinitely better than the dither we witness. Ask any soldier operating at the sharp end.

Re the WA: your colleague Stewart (a fairly bright lad I think) had the best defense of the WA I’ve heard sofar: that Corbyn should embrace it because it is the only way to get what he claims he wants (of course being a bolshevik he wants to have a no deal that he can blame on the conservatives, followed by a proletarian revolution) ie a selection of goodies from the EU menu. Maybe he is right and there will be enough social democrats among the Labour MPs that would share his view. In that case the PD should be made much more specific and enshrined in UK law making it harder for a possible (but not probable) May successor from the Eurosceptic wing to create a Singapore on the Thames with access to the EU. One Singapore on the Liffey is enough.

What you say is perfectly correct however ERG Members and supporters need to be realistic : there is now NO POSSIBILITY that the Remainer majority in Parliament will allow a WTO exit, now, or in a month’s time.
Your only choices are now :
1. May’s deal, and live to negotiate another day but this time under a proper Brexit-led Government.
2 A much softer deal that isn’t really Brexit at all because it will come with all the limitations and costs associated with membership of the single market and customs union

3. No Brexit at all.

The EUâs WA is so bad that it should never be signed under any circumstances whatever happens next.
It means signing a treaty where we must accept EU laws and taxes without representation or veto and with no lawful means of exit, according to the AG
It was deliberately designed to be worse than remain in order to be used as the leave option against remain in a second referendum and it is. Even the Lisbon Treaty contains Article 50.
Once signed it will leave us completely naked in the following trade negotiations as the EU will not release us until they have got every single concession from us that they want. Mr. Macron has already said he will use the backstop to get complete access to our fishing waters.
The WA is the very opposite of âtaking back controlâ. It reduces our sovereignty and means that we no longer retain the ability through the ballot box to elect and remove those who are making our laws and deciding our taxes.
It is a treaty designed by anti-democracy globalist Conservative MPs, who are not representative of the majority of the Conservative Party membership, to con the British public into thinking it is implementing Brexit.
The way forward is to not sign the WA but to accept instead a long delay, which I am certain the EU are prepared to give us in order to continue to get our ÂŁ1bn/month or more net contribution to their budget and to not disrupt their ÂŁ8bn/month trading surplus with the UK.
In the meantime I am very happy for the country to vote in the forthcoming EU MEP elections and for our PM to be able to attend and veto proposed legislation in the EU Council of Ministers which is considered damaging to UK interests, which would not be possible if we sign this âhorribleâ WA.
In the meantime we can continue negotiations, hopefully after December with a new PM and negotiating team.

The globalist Conservative MPs who are keeping Mrs. May in office as PM and still voting for her/the EUâs democracy destroying WA will kill off the Conservative Party.
They and the Party will be toast when the nation wakes up to the awfulness of signing a treaty where we must accept laws and taxes without any say or veto and from which we are unable to lawfully exit without the EUâs permission.

Treachery Is rife is rife.
