I am pleased that the Government is dropping proposals to raise probate fees, following representations from myself and many others.

    Indeed it was just another back door IHT tax. They have not even kept the £1 million each IHT threshold promise made by Osborne very many years back yet. The highest taxes for 40+ years and generally appalling and declining public services from these “Conservatives”.

    A very sensible move, let us hope the new scheme whenever it is introduced is also not percentage based.

    Now all we need is for stamp duty on house purchase to be bought back down to sensible levels.
