"If you thought Ed Miliband was extreme, try his replacement..." As EU households double air-con use in 6 years, we reveal how Fahnbulleh would probably prefer to ban it in UK. Will she make ‘Red Ed’ look like an oil industry lobbyist? ... Pls re-post ! ...

Well done to Chris Philp pointing out the French police are not stopping the illegal migrant boats. The UK is paying France £661m to stop this dangerous trade. The PM should make it his priority to get them to stop the boats or cancel these payments

The four new UK nuclear submarines are being built at Barrow with good UK jobs already created. Employees need to be security vetted. What difference is the PM going to make to these jobs and to recruitment?

The PM wants to improve carers’ pay and conditions and wants more social care to relieve hospitals. Fine. When, and how will he pay for it? How much will it save on A and E departments?

When will the PM see that he needs to solve problems he identifies, not just complain about them and put them out to review as with social care. He also needs to cut waste and undesirable spending so he can afford some new policies.

Water nationalisation we are told polls well. Not if you told people how much extra tax they would have to pay for all the new investment needed and to compensate existing owners. If the state offered no compensation it would undermine new private investment in the UK.

Glad the Business Secretary is telling the PM we need billions of private capital to build new reservoirs and water treatment works, new power stations and extra grid. The Treasury does not have those billions to spend on nationalising our utilities. No more tax rises.

Mr Burnham offers us lots of things that some think nice to have . He has no idea how to pay for them. Free social care, nationalised water and energy would cost billions requiring huge tax rises. Another big hit to the economy. More people with money fleeing the country.

Mr Burnham told us he was going to solve the social care problem. A few days later he says he wants the Opposition parties to help him find a solution. So which is it? Previous cross party talks failed to reach an agreement.

Nothing new in wanting the same esteem for technical as well as academic education. That has been Conservative policy for years. If the PM wants more mortar layers and fewer mortar boards he needs to reverse the falls in housebuilding under this government.

Labour’s high tax policies have driven many millionaires out of the country and made those who stay poorer. They see this as a move to greater equality. The problem is now less well off people will get higher tax bills to replace the lost revenue. They are making everyone poorer.

The government needs more tax from growth. So lift the bans on new oil and gas and on making petrol cars. Cancel carbon tax and emissions trading levies to stop the loss of high energy using businesses.Home oil and gas could be a tax gusher. More UK jobs means more UK tax.

The MOD says buy British. Good idea, but government policy means importing steel, petrochemicals, aluminium, glass, ceramics and other high energy using products in the name of net zero. UK carbon taxes are designed to close a lot of UK industrial plants.

@Worstedjumper All get free health care at all ages. We all have to pay for our own food and accommodation unless we cannot get a job and do not have savings. Why should someone in a care home with a good private pension get free food when a pensioner living in their own home has to buy food?

No previous government has “solved” the social care problem because nationalising care and offering free care for all is just too expensive. Reform fails as soon as you try to answer who will pay if not the people with savings and pensions living in the care homes.

Announcing nice to haves daily by a PM with no money to spend will end badly. He will need big tax rises, hitting the economy again, or face runaway debt costs as interest rates rise further.

Disastrous idea by Mr Burnham to want to recreate the 1970s when a Labour government overspent, over borrowed, overtaxed. It had to beg a humiliating loan from the IMF as it was engulfed by high inflation. Too many nationalised services went on strike and cost us a fortune.
