Great interview SirJ …I wish you could’ve known and included the new EU arrangements ref ICE
”London, 27 March – Net Zero Watch has welcomed yesterday’s EU agreement not to ban the sale of cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) after 2035.
Net Zero Watch is calling on Rishi Sunak to follow suit and abandon its 2030 ban of the sale of ICE cars.”

All sensible stuff as usual. Please can you ask a question about why the FSA under the charge of the dire Andrew Bailey decided that all personal ODs should be at one size for all at rip off rates usually 40% (good credit risk or bad. Effectively banning overdrafts for sensible borrowers. Lend to the bank they might pay 1% borrow and they charge you 40% this is hardly a real and competitive market. A massive profit margin. Why not action to kill this anti-competitive racket.

Overseas the very same banks charge far less for ODs cica 1/4 of the rates.

So Rishi wants lots of new laws to clamp down a begging, drugs, Nitrous Oxide, to evict anti-social tenants (where will they go?)… But my dearest Rishi the police do nothing with the laws they have already! So they will just add these to their long list.

They do virtually nothing about burglars, shop lifters, muggers, car crimes and thefts (unless they have some nice fine income for your doing 23MPH in a 20 limit, bus lanes, hatch junctions. parking 1 min over time). The police’s standard response is to do nothing and try to avoid even taking a crime report if at all possible.

So the question as to whether a PM intentionally misled Parliament over a matter central to the personal and professional lives of the whole population is a mere “diversion” in John’s opinion.

    Well, that’s informative.

Following on from this interview and your recent past blogs, SJ, I note in 2021, the Chancellor R.Sunak, halved the tax on airline passengers (APD).
Behold a wonder! There has been, by 2023, an increase in the numbers of domestic flights each requiring more flight and cabin crews and a super-fast way for business persons to travel from regional airports. Merely for cutting the prohibitive tax on passengers, AKA, “Customers”! Less tax on customers gives more tax income for the Treasury.
Does this not prove to Downing Street what can happen with tax reductions?
However now another £££Bs government waste solution emerges.
So I ask, “Will this not now convince the ex-Chancellor (now PM) to scrap the HS2 project NOW”?
Why would anyone take a ‘faster’ train saving 30 minutes from London, when a PLANE will get you to Birmingham in quick time from many other regions within the UK? Especially when it will SAVE the tax payers around £100 Billion. This, definitely, for me from the back streets of Britain, is a “No brainer”. What is the Government problem here? Taking zero notice of those who could elect you?
(Ditto ‘why are we importing gas from USA fracking when we can produce our own’? And ditto zero carbon et al.) The anti-Tory principles list grows, yet they do nothing about it!
