Stop Wokingham Borough Council wasting our money

Wokingham Lib Dem Councillors claim they are short of money and are proposing cuts to services like refuse, litter and grounds maintenance which will be very unpopular.
So how come they think they can spend over £5 million wrecking California cross roads, one of the better junctions on the local road network? It is all part of their anti driver anti business approach, making it more difficult to pop into the shops or drive children to school.
They want to make our lives difficult and send us the bill, whilst  cutting the services we want them to do well.
Sign the petition against the roadworks.

Think it’s time for every councillor to be made accountable for projects they vote for! In every county, town or parish!! There is too much waste & fraud across the UK! Taxpayers money is easy meat for the greedy & dishonest. Enough is enough!!

A decent council would have sent out a survey before proceeding with such a pointless action.

Well said. Too many councils want to create 15 minute cities.

Oh rest assured the LibDem Wokingham Council sends out loads and loads of so called consultation surveys.
All with loaded questions, all to try and get the answers they really want themselves.
That or they bury the consolation process under vague headings which are difficult to find, so they can say no one is bothered.
Afraid the LibDems excuse is they never have enough money from Government, although Government does not have any money themselves, just the money it takes from taxpayers !

LibDems in Kingston and Surbiton are even worse, when will people wake up?
Most of public parking in Kington was replaced by flats, the roads are favouring bikes (but not much used bike trails).
Soon commerce will escape because the councils are discouraging visitors.

I would sign, but do you have to live in the Constituency, for your signature to count?

This project was originally proposed in 2015 and originally due to start in 2018. Remind me, who was running Wokingham council in those years?

Reply Yes the officers proposed it. Councillors listened to criticisms from the public and did not give it the go ahead under Consevatives!

The council web update blames the government for not giving them enough money.
They say does not take into account the cost of care for children with disabilities. The implication is Wokingham has more than the National average. Hence the need for cuts.
A classic left justification for poor financial management. If when don’t cut the bin collection children will suffer.

John I agree 100% and have complained and campaigned with local neighbourhood sites constantly. Local support is overwhelmingly against this development and waste of public funds. However the reality is that the WBC have ignored all of these pleas and as you are aware the preparations are already under way with main construction being set for February.
What else can we do when such bone heads are sitting in their ivory towers promoting pet projects at the expense of good common sense services.
