My Speech at the Cambridge Union – This House does NOT believe in a United States of Europe

Didn’t watch the whole thing so I have no idea which side won. There was a position put by the second speaker for the motion, namely that a United States of Europe was essential as a strategic defence against the twin existential threats facing humanity posed by Putin and Trump. A very solid argument I thought. Unfortunately she pressed the wrong button on her tablet and had to attempt to extemporise her closing argument rather than reading it from her device.
It was a pity JR was not given enough time to fully develop his argument. The Union should have been more generous to guest speakers. The second speaker against the motion made a rather churlish and unnecessary comment to commence his speech.

An excellent speech, thank you.
We must find ways to encourage new industries to establish and grow in the UK rather than the USA or USE or China and not go offshore when foreign interests dangle cash.

In a way the EU feels totally opposite to the USA.
In the US each state has its own set of laws, but a common currency management, military and border.
In the EU each country has its own currency management, military and border and the EU is trying to create a common set of laws.
