So instead of smashing more gangs, Labour in its first year smashed fewer than the previous government. Instead of cutting numbers of illegal migrants, they broke the Tony Blair all time record for new arrivals.
They have been processing asylum applications faster, with half being granted permission to stay. They have created a bigger queue of appeals as lawyers think they have made bad decisions. Half of those rejected then get permission based on a court overturning the original decision. With a 3 in 4 chance of an illegal migrant ending up with the right to stay no wonder they keep on coming. The availability of a hotel or flat, benefits and other gifts add to the allure of the UK for the migrant.
The government behaves as if it does not have a huge majority. It could at any time require Parliament to meet to change the law to stop this abuse. Even a Labour MP is now calling for overturning international laws used to stop us controlling our borders. The government could take up the Conservative draft legislation which Labour recently voted down when the Conservatives put it to Parliament.
This is a national crisis. We cannot afford £5 bn a year on asylum seeker costs. We want our hotels back for their proper use. We need Cabinet and Parliament back next week to say Enough is Enough and to act to smash the gangs as promised.
Why did the government refuse the recent addition to our law, the measure to say an illegal arrival cannot then claim asylum? Why repeal the use of a safe country for deportations? Why not instruct our authorities to interview all illegal arrivals under caution to find out who they paid for their trip, who drove the boat, how they out about the service, which bank accounts were used etc? Why not do more mystery shopping to find the gangs?
August 22, 2025
Good morning.
These people have committed a crime. A crime of illegally entering the UK without consent. Why are they not arrested and brought before a court for their crime ? It is these people, not the so called gangs, that are driving this trade. It is the UK Government that is allowing this trade to flourish by incentivising rather than punishing and disincentivizing them.
Again I say. The solution is simple, it just requires the will of the government to act.
August 22, 2025
No political will from Labour or the Con-socialists . They government pretend it is the nasty gangs driving this. The people are not forced onto the boats from safe and pleasant France at gun point are they? The are funding these boat taxis!
August 22, 2025
‘ The government behaves as if it does not have a huge majority.’
No it doesn’t. It does exactly what it wants – without fear of the impact.
The government is not all bothered by illegal arrivals. Its only concern is to minimise reaction to it.
Hence the heavy policing and imprisonment for tweets. So far government policy seems to be working as intended.
August 22, 2025
And often many other crimes too. They estimate each arrival will cost about a total £500k. This seems a huge underestimate to me with dependents arriving later, hotel costs, state pensions they will get, dependents following them, legal aid, medical costs, policing costs…
August 22, 2025
‘Each arrival’ – each family member counts as a new arrival, whether illegal or not.
August 22, 2025
Perhaps, but I was reading claims that each small boat arrival would cost £500k on average. Surely a large under estimation and totally unaffordable for the taxpayers who are forced to fun this. Often taxpayers left with less disposable income than the new arrivals get. Doom loop economics where ever you care to look in Two Tier Kier’s UK.
Let us hope that Lucy Connolly, now finally released, can get over her appalling & clearly political incarceration by our dire justice system. When will Lucy Letby get her appeal? This as all 15 of her convictions are clearly unsound!
August 22, 2025
Agreed Mark however your points, those from Sir John & from others who will post here today are all longstanding and understood by the Government.
Based on the evidence I can only conclude Labour do not care about the number of illegal and legal migrants coming into the UK. I suspect they expect these people to be pro-Labour and to help grow GDP in absolute terms.
Perhaps we should ask ourselves why successive governments have failed to secure our borders?
August 22, 2025
Privatising the profits and socialising the losses.
‘Twas ever thus
August 22, 2025
Because we don’t have enough high quality MPs. Simple!
Solution: attract higher quality MPs to Parliament. Not so simple but we could at least try and figure how.
But I think a lot of people secretly don’t want that as then there is nothing to complain about. I think people enjoy complaining more than actually trying to come with practical solutions (which involves harder work and is about postive action instead of negative moaning!)
Our great country deserves more.
August 22, 2025
The solution is to select your own candidate freely and ignoring the party list, that is what we always used to do.
Some of us are bored blue reiterating the solution.
Our great country deserves a few Prople who listen to those who have been in the trenches for 50 or 60 years instead of suffering from NIH syndrome. (Not invented here)
August 22, 2025
These people aren’t breaking any illegal entry law if they are “rescued” by Border Force and brought to shore. At that point they claim asylum, so they can’t be immediately deported. They can’t claim asylum outside of the UK; they have to arrive here first.
If they wanted to enter legally, they might try to obtain a visa. However, they would then have to state the purpose of their visit, and “to claim asylum” doesn’t appear on the form (would you believe). No doubt if they found a section to put that as a reason the visa would be denied.
Solution – set up offices in France so anyone wishing to claim asylum can do so without making the journey to the UK, then deny asylum claims for those who presumptuously make the journey.
August 22, 2025
@ Dave Andrews. That solution (until we leave the ECHR etc) sounds a good practical one. We need a Parliamentary Petition to force our despicable MPs to publicly dismiss such an idea, and make themselves even more unpopular.
August 22, 2025
No need to create these , we have already approximately 280 foreign missions including embassies and consulates.
There is no urgency from our perspective therefore no additional staff need be paid for.
August 22, 2025
Each of which is legally British territory.
August 22, 2025
That would in all probability end up with many more people being officially let in which is probably why it’s a favoured idea of the left
August 22, 2025
Not if the requirement for an asylum claim included having to be sponsored (by a charity for example), and the sponsor having to put up say £1/2m guarantee against the claimant committing any crimes in the UK, and they had to provide food and shelter all the time the claimant wasn’t working.
The state could still grant asylum where it considers it’s in the interest of the country to do so, for example if the claimant was a nuclear weapons expert it wanted to take out of circulation.
August 22, 2025
Excellent idea, and any Judge who allows a asylum seeker to remain should shoulder the same responsibility.
August 22, 2025
Even more simple – do not send RNLI to false SOS from the Channel, do not accept calls from French boats to Border Force to come and transport them to Dover. They don’t destroy the RIBs there and then – WHY NOT?
August 22, 2025
From Starmers viewpoint all is going to plan. UN and WEF instructions are being carried out to the letter
Population replacement and cultural identity beingberased is spot on target.
All who complain are branded farcrighr bigots and the police are being used to force our acquiesce.
There is nothing random about this invasion and it is an EU mandated policy.
Revolution looks like the only solution as parliament is against the population.
Reply Elections or pressure of public opinion are the way to get change. I assume you mean peaceful revolution.
August 22, 2025
If peaceful revolution fails then we’re in trouble. The problem is politicians have for years ridden roughshod over us. Voting hasn’t changed anything ad the uniparty are all signed up to the NWO agenda.
August 22, 2025
Revolutionaries are generally motivated by self-glory, cruelty and madness from one degree to another with long-term consequences to match their motivations.
August 22, 2025

“Population replacement and cultural identity being berased is spot on target.”
As is the WEF’s mission to destroy ownership of private property in the “peasant class,” via Rachel from Complaints.

And Putin is more of a geopolitical threat than any Soviet leader during the Cold War. Putin is more powerful and sinister.
But we have to battle illegal immigration first and foremost but still battle Putin (in the ways outlined by Boris Johnson, Mersk of Germany and Zelensky – who are all more-a-less on target).
August 22, 2025
Seems to me it’s the State using its monopoly of violence against the law abiding British.
August 22, 2025
@Mark B +1
You and the rest of us can keep saying it but they the Government and Parliament cant hear you, the are to preoccupied with self, ego and esteem. They didn’t come into Parliament to be empowered and paid to serve the people and the Nation, they came into Parliament to destroy a Nation for self-gratification.
What other reason could there be?
August 22, 2025
So Lucy Connolly is finally free. Coerced into accepting a guilty plea by absurd refusal of bail then hoisted as a clear political prisoner this signed of by Lord Hermer it seems. With three dire appeal court judges saying essentially that there was no arguable case that her sentence was excessive!
So without the mitigating circumstances – a first offence, she withdrew the foolish tweet after jist a few hours, she had a young daughter to care for, she pleaded guilty very early, she was clearly emotional at the time having lost a baby herself recently… what would the sentence have been without these mitigations – 6 years?
August 22, 2025
I’m sure 5 Billion a year is not even the half of it when all said and done. It should not be happening simple as and the problem is our governments have been such utter and woeful failures for such a long time – since 1997 to be exact, however the non actions of the uniparty since 2019 in particular are responsible for this specific problem.. and the mental health fallout served on decent upstanding people in this country on a daily basis. It is an abomination.
August 22, 2025
In my opinion there should be no right of appeal. No, should mean No. Its costing this Country a fortune, and the end does not appear in sight. The Public are utterly fed up with this situation. If there was civil unrest, Labour would act surprised, and make numerous excuses. I didn’t vote for them, having lived through several Labour governments before. I don’t see how we can go on like this for another four years, before we can get them out.
August 22, 2025
What it needs is for asylum to be at the discretion of the state. No judge could grant an asylum claim without the approval of the Home Office. The Home Office would ensure the asylum claim is in the interest of the UK and the applicant is adequately supported by a sponsor.
August 22, 2025
@Cheshire Girl – their Country of origin should be paying all legal bill, just as it is with a UK citizen that gets into a predicament in that country. Reciprocity for all not the few
August 22, 2025
So, A battery-powered electric train has set a new world record for the longest journey on a single charge, travelling 200 miles between Reading, London and Oxford. Great Western Railway spokesperson Paul Gentleman called it an “incredible feat.”
Well not really much of a feat at all you just need many large batteries alas these are heavy, expensive and do not last long. They made if go futher be switching the heating off, not stopping much and going slowly too.
One could of course just use a diesel engine and save the vast cost of the batteries and easily go 20 times this distance more quickly and with the heaters on if needed. Plus, since much of the electricity to charge these batteries will come from fossil fuels anyway (and vast amounts of energy and money is needed to make the short lived batteries) it saves no CO2 really. Plus you have to lug round these large, heavy and rather flammable batteries housed under the passengers.
They also seemed keen on rapid charging of batteries for the couple of minutes stopped at stations this sounds rather dangerous and expensive too. And battery life with fast charging is also sig. degraded!
August 22, 2025
You would also need a grid that could supply very high powers (just for these few minutes when the trains were in the stations charging). So very expensive extra grid and generating capacity needed but this then wasted for perhaps 95% of the time! The same problem you will get by all switching to heat pumps when used heavily on the few v. cold winter days.
August 22, 2025
Amount of ores and salts needed to make ONE car-battery? About 450 tons. That’s about the displacement of a minesweeper.
August 22, 2025
Or you could just have an electric train without batteries, taking power as needed from the catenary.
A small battery might be useful though, so the train could limp to the next station in the event of a power cut (I believe the government are planning these for later – power cuts that is, not trains with small batteries.).
August 22, 2025
But then Ed Miliband read PPE Oxon. his advisor Chris Stark has a sort of law degree and Emma Pinchbeck at the head of CCC (who claims to be an “expert in whole-economy decarbonisation and the energy transition”) read Classics Oxon. Would you even trust them to organise the rewiring of a light in your garage?
August 22, 2025
Steve Jobs had a qualification in graphic design only. Or something. Logic is not enough! You also need creativity to build a great brand like Apple and a great economy (our UK economy is over-focused on finance and consumer at cost of focus on high tech and creating brands like Apple).
August 22, 2025
People build an economy. Is you chase most talented people away you are left with nothing.
The State CAN’T build a company or an economy. All they can do is stop throttling same.
‘Tough love!’
August 22, 2025
‘The State CAN’T build a company or an economy’
– I never said that. You’re very black and white in your thinking.
But government can help facilitate (in important ways and which requires creativity and some planning and effort) such as 1. US gov with Silicon Valley 2. Israeli gov with high tech industry in Tel Aviv
August 22, 2025
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/transport-energy-and-environment-statistics-notes-and-definitions/journey-emissions-comparisons-methodology-and-guidance
This government table is full of drivel like “Cycling and Walking produce no CO2 per KM direct or indirect”. Clearly on that basis we should design cars running of steak and chips and they too would produce no CO2! Was it perhaps written by a classics, law or language graduate?
August 22, 2025
Point 1: A mobile phone was the size of a fridge 30 years ago. I exaggerate. But something like.
Point 2: There is a tonne of money to be made from Green tech – and related tech.
Joining points 1 and 2 together:
If the gov did more to help develop UK as world’s second Silicon Valley (in Cambridge area – and then in Oxford – and helped to recreate an English version of the German car industry in the north of England), then there would be tonnes more money to the public coffers to pay for things such as the billions needed to create a task force to stop uncontrolled immigration to our great country.
August 22, 2025
If you think 1 and 2 are a winning formula, go ahead. Risk your capital and energy. I wish you all good things.
Don’t demand that the taxpayer is forced to take a risk that they do not voluntarily see as a winner, by tax enforcement.
Most of us see Green technology and a sure fire bankruptcy strategy. Mobile phones are also a dead loss. Carcinogenic and don’t work.
August 22, 2025
No idea what you’re talking about / how relevant to anything I said. Sorry. Same for some other comments you write.
August 22, 2025
The phrase is ‘born and bred’. This ridiculous acceptance of any baby born in these islands as British, whether the mother has residence or not is mad.
August 22, 2025
I’m happy to accept a child born and brought up in this country as a British subject. The problem comes when the foreign parents don’t integrate into British society and the child grows up with a feeling of not belonging, only to end up agitating in criminal activity when he’s older. Remind you of anyone?
August 22, 2025
This is good comment I think

The UK does not have birthright citizenship.
August 22, 2025
It does.
August 22, 2025
No it doesn’t. The right was abolished in the British Nationality Act 1981 (which came into force on 1st January 1983).
This sort of information can be easily verified with a simple internet search.
August 22, 2025
‘This ridiculous acceptance of any baby born in these islands as British’, Really? Do you ever check anything before writing?
gov.uk ‘Check if you can become a British citizen’.
‘If you were born in the UK: You do not automatically get British citizenship if you were born in the UK. It depends on when you were born and your parents’ circumstances’ then follows a list of conditions.
So, as usual with Lynn, a very biased or uninformed comment. Does she ever write anything sensible, I wonder?
August 22, 2025
Thanks for the link, Hefner. It shows that the ‘list of conditions’, far from imposing stringent requirements, actually provides fairly wide criteria. It says a child is a British citizen even if neither of its married parents is a British citizen, but at least one has been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK. Upwards of 100,000 foreigners annually have been granted indefinite leave to remain in recent years. Over time, that adds up to quite a lot of people whose children, all of them, are deemed to be British. There are about half 1 million live births per year in Britain. So Lynn may be near the mark than you realised.
August 22, 2025
Hefner, you can turn up in a dinghy with no documentation whatsoever, unable to speak English and get citizenship, a council house and benefits for life.
Do you not understand that there is the fascade and then there is reality. You keep quoting the fascade, which politicians hide behind and use to keep ethnic Britons from returning home.
We are all concerned by reality – you know, not the ‘net migration’ figures but the actual replacement figures. How many millions of aliens now call themselves British.
August 22, 2025
You could have just pointed out the error without being so rude hefner.
Your idea of polite debate presumably.
August 22, 2025

Well said Alan.
Totally agree.
August 22, 2025
The Conservatives and Reform should undertake to review any grantings of asylum made by this one, if they form the next government. The public have had enough! The immigration issue destroyed the Conservatives at the last general election; it will do the same for Labour at the next. Did you see yesterday’s Find Out Now polling? Labour continues its steady decline.
August 22, 2025
SW
We will see at next years Welsh Elections when Reform will take control of the Welsh Next Senedd election, then watch all of the Labour/Libdems MPs in England clamber for a big change on immigration and front bench
August 22, 2025
Or else they will all just resign and join the party which will win. This has long been the strategy of those who want a political career under any banner.
August 22, 2025
Why is the Government not changing the law to deter the criminal migrants, or adopting meaningful deterrents, Sir John?
Because it wants them here. They are complying with the Globalists’ strategy to destroy the social cohesion of western nations and, in due course, create a Technocratic One World Government.
It’s deliberate. Listen to Prof David Betz’ warning – we now have all the conditions in the UK which will lead to civil war and they have been deliberately created by successive Governments. This one is just accelerating the process.

August 22, 2025
It is not just the cost John, bad enough though that is, once here they can apply for their whole family to arrive legally, then there are the problems of language, housing, integration, way of life, work, education, health and support.
As Mark B outlines today, and I have said many times before, the gangs are simply supplying a need, so many are searching for them to help, the size of the boats have increased, the number of boats has increased, and it is suggested the price per person has now come down due to efficiency of scale.
Many news reporters, and now even a couple of politicians have travelled to France and have seen the situation for themselves, yet our Government seem absolutely blind, and the French simply do not appear to care.
Meanwhile the Lawyers are making fools and a fortune from the government and taxpayers who are funding their fees.
August 22, 2025
At Prime Ministers Questions why does a likely lad stand up and ask that question. Why have we not changed the law so that an illegal immigrant is prevented from claiming asylum in this country?
We have no land borders so no one is fleeing immediate danger when they arrive here.
Reply The Conservatives did enact no right to claim asylum for an illegal. Labour repealed it before courts were enforcing it.
August 22, 2025
That needs more publicity Sir John – I was not aware of the law from the Conservatives nor that Labour repealed it.
August 22, 2025
How much are those who have worked the system and are legally here costing us? Are they still converts to Christianity or do they remain gay now they have been granted asylum? How many of them are there? Having pleaded persecution in their own countries, are they going back there on holiday, as has been reported? How many of their fellow citizens have they imported as “family”. The whole asylum system is corrupted with lies and stupidity.
August 22, 2025
Sir John, what we the people want is not what the Labour Party under the misguided hand of Keir Starmer wants.
He is completely relaxed about migration numbers, he is completely relaxed about ever more public money i.e. our the tax payer’s money, being spent on endless legal appeals by opportunistic lawyers who he supports at every turn.
He is completely relaxed about spending £billions/year housing and feeding and treating for chronic health care costs migrants who turn up knowing they will never be rejected or asked to pay anything.
He is completely relaxed about destroying stable settled society and replacing it with anxiety and anger as local hotels and now housing is gifted to an endless stream of migrants that will never integrate with their host community.
That is the problem we have here in the UK. The left wing lunacy passed off as caring liberalism is what is destroying British society. Starmer/Rayner/Helmer/et al along with the captured cultural Marxist institutions are driving it.
If anyone imagines this can continue on through to 2029, I have a bridge you may be interested in?
August 22, 2025
As you point out, by removing what protections would have come about from the previous government this is a deliberate destruction of our way of life, especially that of ordinary local people who just want to be left alone to carry on living as before. Now we know what it was like to live through previous eras when governments/ monarchs rode roughshod: the English civil war, when soldiers pilfered locals’ food saved for winter when on their way to battle; the reformation, when the monasteries were abolished along with traditional local certainties. I used to think the EU was the biggest threat to our way of life. Now we all know it’s elected UK MPs.
August 22, 2025
So the government is to appeal the Epping decision. Government against the people. I rest my case.
August 22, 2025
Apparently it’s the hotel owners that are appealing…
August 22, 2025
Funded by ….?
August 22, 2025
The only logical answer to all your questions is that the government has no intention of ‘smahing the gangs’ or ‘stopping the boats’. Consequently, they are complicit in allowing thousands of mainly fighting age men to enter the country illegally. The vital question is why?
August 22, 2025
Brian, the Great Reset is a policy of removing power from the Western middle class and spreading the wealth accumulated there to the rest of the world.
The top level wealth holders will be safe as will the top level Public Sector employees who are regarded as agents needed to effect the change in world order.
Starmer, Hermer and their ilk see their role as instrumental in bringing about societal change. Importing endless potless individuals that are then willing recipients of the wealth transfer is seen as an important step towards the Great Reset.
You will own nothing and you will be happy….apparently.
August 22, 2025
The fact remains Sir JR. The Conservatives has 14 years to deal with immigration, illegal or otherwise and failed.
Now Starmer and Ludicrous Labour have had one year to deal with it and it’s worse.
I can only conclude, the Uniparty want the illegals.
August 22, 2025
It’s a bit like food banks. If you give stuff away for free you will always have lots of customers!
Sir John, you have asked lots of questions in your post. Do you have any theories why this (and previous governments) have not dealt with immigration?
August 22, 2025
@Kenneth. Good question for Sir John, as he was in thick of it and we weren’t; his perspective would be interesting.
August 22, 2025
How can you be given asylum,
1, asylum from what?
2, as a criminal – forceable entering the country without papers and the right to do so.
3, as a thief, stealing places of other fleeing oppression.
4, as a fraudster, conning money and privileged from others who are paying but themselves not able to have those luxuries for free.
5, as a person leaving a safe haven country.
August 22, 2025
You could also ask why are not all criminals in the UK treated equally?
August 22, 2025
Is this still going on though? It seems like years ago that Home Secretary Patel said she was “absolutely determined” to put a stop to illegal migration, just as her successor Braverman was.
August 22, 2025
Just as David Cameron promised to reduce immigration ‘to the tens of thousands’.
August 22, 2025
‘ We need Cabinet and Parliament back next week to say Enough is Enough’
That will never happen, this Parliament doesn’t work for the UK and its Citizens. It doesn’t protect the Nation and its people. This Parliament and the previous ones have nurtured this illegal trade to bolster their personal self-esteem.
The whole point is this Parliament doesn’t give a damn about the UK they are so engrossed in self and deflection they haven’t a clue as to what is happening in the Country. The are all wrapped up in their own self obsessed bubble
So it is not a case of Parliament being recalled it is a case of Parliament being dismissed, they don’t work for us we cant afford them, we don’t need them.
August 22, 2025
Does the Government not want to stop overspending?
August 22, 2025
No. They believe turnover is ‘growth’. They want growth so have maxed out on every credit card.
They have no understanding of profit (wealth creation upon which we all live).
August 22, 2025
Tony Blair along with President George Dubya Bush kicked all of this off with the attack on Iraq and Afghanistan – consider: the population of the whole of the Middle East might be 500 million and in Africa the population of Nigeria alone is 250 million – it is horrifying to think that only a fraction of that amount could be heading our way – we need emergency legislation to cope with this.
August 22, 2025
Parliaments attitude to criminal entry?
In a perverse way I am reminded what Parliament is really about when we read that the exam results for English and Maths amongst our Children shows a decline in standards, people failing all over the place, even after re-sits. Faced with this situation what does Parliament’s mouthpiece the Education Secretary come up with, a look a teaching standards? No, let’s change the system make it warm and cuddle and give everyone a free pass.
So then we get to Parliament’s attitude to criminal entry, we get let’s give it a warm and cuddly new name lets call them displaced people, lets call them people escaping from oppression (France?).
Do the phrases or the words change the structural failings of Parliament? Can we be the judge sooner rather than later
August 22, 2025
‘Mystery shopping to fine the gangs’
No need, its already been done by your colleague Patrick Christys of GB News. He went over and found at least one in 24 hours and tried to interview him on camera. Of course the trafficker ran away. Patrick said he passed all the information he had on to the government. Nothing seems to ever come of it even when evidence is given. The government must want it otherwise what is stopping it doing something? Presumably the French just want rid and Starmer’s mate Macron cannot be upset it seems, so the British cop it all instead with what looks like French and British connivance.
August 22, 2025
YouGov Poll, published 21st August – asked 5,292 British voters which government they hold most responsible for the current issues around asylum seekers being housed in hotels.
Are Labour or the Tories more responsible for the current issues around asylum seekers being housed in hotels?
Previous Conservative govt: 28%
Current Labour govt: 19%
We know Blair forced the door open, and we know every member of Parliament since has had the option to change or close it. They have all sort to exasperate the punishment handed out to the people and the Nation
August 22, 2025
It is a disgraceful example of weakness from the Government. The only thing you can conclude is that they don’t want to stop illegal immigration and refuse to do anything about it. Other countries have shown the way and stopped or significantly reduced immigration.
If they refuse to act, there will be an explosion of anger which they can’t control.
The PM and Home Secretary are like headless chickens, running round in circles, going nowhere!
August 22, 2025
The gangs will never be smashed and if they are others will just spring up. The only options are to process them elsewhere or announce our borders are closed to illegal entries until further notice in order to process the backlog. Such a shame that the Rwanda idea was blocked….
August 22, 2025
The Rwanda plan was a clumsy idea. Just place the irregular migrants in secure detention centres with nothing to do, but good porridge to eat, until they can inform the governor where they can be returned.
Anyone coming from a country where they can’t be returned, and has a problem being detained – well just don’t come to the UK uninvited.
August 22, 2025
The illegal immigration figures are not “dreadful” for our PM, Parliament, Civil Service (Home Office in particular) and judiciary. They’re “business as usual”. There’s clearly no wish and hence no real effort put in to stopping this invasion. Just words and false promises to make us believe “something|” is being done. They even cancelled the only plan which had a chance of working, the Rwanda plan (which is why BTW Sunak called an early election because he thought it might just work). For instance, there is no need for Border Force (?) or the RNLI to go out and collect illegal immigrants who are in no danger of drowning when they are given lifejackets by the French and escorted all the way into mid Channel by the French navy. We should simply refuse to collect them. The French are not going to abandon them mid Channel are they? Secondly there is no need to reward the illegal immigrants with free 4 star hotel accommodation, or even housing which they can then claim squatters rights, free clothing, £49/week pocket money, free travel and entertainment, free dental care, free legal representation and the freedom to roam our streets unhindered and to take unregulated jobs or simply abscond. If 200,000 people can live in tents in a 1500 acre field with all the necessary security, water, and electricity supply infrastructure necessary in order to attend Glastonbury why cannot the same be organised for undocumented illegal migrants until they are processed/deported?
August 22, 2025
In answer to all the whys, I can only conclude that this government is incurably insane, or has a plan to destroy the ethos and culture of the UK and make it irrevocable.
However they house these people, it is at the expense of a large number of our indigenous British population currently in substandard accommodation or out on the street. Frankly it disgusts me.
I will not list all that needs to be done to halt this nonsense because I have already done so in earlier submissions.
I sense and see a national cross political stiring of dissatisfaction at grass roots level, which when combined with this government’s total financial ineptitude, and their farcical propaganda, will spell their end sooner than their term.

The Conservative Government did not stop the small boat invasion so why should we expect Labour to do any better. Likewise sorting out suitable accomdation that would not encourage people to risk their lives crossing the channel in the first place. The French have a duty to stop the unsafe boats leaving their waters/shore. If they reach our waters then the people have entered illegally and should be held in reception camps to be processed.
This is the only way to stop the invasion. The rest is just talk for talking sake.
If laws prevent this course of action then the Law should be changed.
Maybe the PM can rent out a couple of rooms to ease the accomodation problem. Is there any spare rooms in the house of commons ?

You can’t rely on the French and their duty to us.
We have to deal with problem ourselves by raising billions not through raising taxes but by building up our high tech industry which would hugely raise productivity and quality exports and so fill gov coffers to pay for the billions needed to deal with the immigration crisis (and the high tech industry could then focus on building the tech needed to defend our great country from hostile supersonic missiles and drones etc from hostile forces in the future).
Gove (for all his faults) was on the money for focusing on UK as world’s second silicon Valley in Cambridge area)
August 22, 2025
We need to raise billions to create a task force to deal with illegal immigration.
The only way to raise this money without raising taxes is to help create the UK as world’s second Silicon Valley (in Cambridge and then in Oxford and help recreate the German car industry – to a degree – in the north of England), therefore greatly rising productivity, lowering taxes (getting more people into work), high quality exports and more money then into government coffers to pay for the task force to deal with illegal immigration.
Got to get real – and entrepreneurial! And action and pragmatism instead of just complaints!
August 22, 2025
And reducing taxes alone is no way Jose going to work! We need much more. A real boost to our economy by supporting entrepreneurs and others in high tech industry. In a creative way (like American gov supporting rise of Silicon Valleh – like Israeli gov supporting rise of High Tech industry in Tel Aviv) then taxes will drop anyway because of higher productivity and exports. But taxes can be lowered anyway because of the hope this growth in High Tech offers.
August 22, 2025
High tech industry does not need support, no financially viable enterprise needs support. That’s the whole point.
‘Tough love!’
August 22, 2025
‘High tech industry does not need support, no financially viable enterprise needs support’
– This is politically untrue. Look at 1. The role US gov played in the rise of 1. Silicon Valley 2. The Israeli gov played in the rise of High Tech industry in Tel Aviv
Thanks for the love – tough or otherwise ..

Ed, after we (the British) invented the modern computer industry – you know, computers with a memory, Wilson boasted about the white heat of technology and chased all of those with that ability out of the country by assuming that they did not understand that devaluation meant the £ in their pocket could not buy what it had previously.
They went to the USA mainly, where they contributed greatly to the building of the big tech companies. People like Seymour Cray.
Accept that the Jewish nation is highly talented, and Israel is small. Their tech companies are therefore close together.
Allocating industrial areas is a very small contribution to the establishment of the Tech Industry. Funding for academics to study tech produces idiot Mickey Mouse languages created by academics for accademics. The cutting edge is with the companies delivering, privately and for profit.

We have an army a navey and an airforce they could be depolyed to stop an invasion and run reception centres, If the Goverment had the will to do so.
We are spending bilions to support imigration both legal and ilĺegal.
If we were not spending the tax money here we could use it to invest in developing a second silicon Valley. The invasion is creating unrest in the country which discourages investment. That’s getting real
August 22, 2025
‘We have an army a navey and an airforce they could be depolyed to stop an invasion and run reception centres, If the Goverment had the will to do so’ – that’s just not enough. And the military didn’t sign on for this kind of thing (sure, they do it if ordered – but you aren’t going to get people joining the military if this is their job. This is a new crisis and requires lots of money – but not from raising taxes but growing our economy through growth in High Tech industry we have to help grow more).
‘We are spending bilions to support imigration both legal and ilĺegal’ – like I said, you don’t spend one penny from existing budget. And if you don’t invest in this problem, you’re just going to carry on with same problem (Tories were more-a-less just as useless as Labour here), wasting more and more money.
‘If we were not spending the tax money here we could use it to invest in developing a second silicon Valley’ – I’m with you here to a degree. But we should have invested in Silicon Valley years ago. But we have to start now whether we had this immigration crisis or not.
‘The invasion is creating unrest in the country which discourages investment” – no, I don’t think that’s true. Investors don’t really care about things like that (for them it’s a long-term problem but not short to medium term).
But overall, I welcome your enthusiasm about Silicon Valley. To me it’s a no brainer. But Gove is the only Tory talking seriously about it – which is nuts to me. The whole party should be on board. Which tells me this Tory party are full of people not up to the job (even if we just had a few, would make a big difference).
August 23, 2025
The very first ‘Silicon Valley’ was at Bletchley. Then Manchester. Did you not know?
August 22, 2025
In fairness to your comment, if Tory party said something we need the armed forces in the short term to help deal with immigration crisis, but then said they’re going to invest in Silicon Valley and then use proceeds from this to pay for a proper WALL against immigration (wall in every sense) long-term, then that would go down a lot better with the armed forces and the electorate than just say, we’re going to use the armed forces indefinitely. You got to have a plan. You can’t just do stuff ad hoc.

No wonder the Conservative Party is lost!
Ed must be the last member.
August 22, 2025
This government has no idea about stimulating enterprise. For them, an entrepreneur is just someone to be taxed into oblivion.
August 22, 2025
I’m 100% not interested in Labour. We all know they’re cr-p so why waste time / energy talking about them?! We should be focused on how to rebuild the Tory Party.
August 22, 2025
@Ed M – first you need to find Conservatives that are willing to enter Parliament, the last Conservatives were all diven out. All that remains are the con-Socialists that have voted for continuity of the failures that they as part of the collective responsibility of todays mistakes wish to coninue. So to rebuild a Tory Party the grass roots, the members, have to assert control, find and select real Conservatives.
The destruct button by this Parliamentary Group has already been pushed. Socialist, Wet’s, One Nation Liberal Democrats have nothing to do with the Tories, they are as everyone notes just a faction of the Uniparty.

I understand an ZMP would not like to believe other MPs are liars. However it should be abundantly clear that Starmer’s Gang doesn’t not want to stop illegal migration. Everything they say about smashing the gangs is a lie. They want the illegals to come to UK. They prefer them to tge British whom they hate and despise. They are socialists a d communists. They do not believe in the nation state. They believe national borders should be torn down. T g ey believe government should be executed by supranational committees of technocrats like the EU.
Starmers Gang say in public they intend to smash the gangs only to sound good and to pacify public opposition. When this doesn’t work they suppress freedom of expression. That is what socialists always do.
UK has all the legal cover it needs to stop the boats. It doesn’t because it doesn’t want to.
The country is a tinderbox. If it ignites Starmer’s Gang will double down and if necessary declare martial law. Socialists always end with tyranny.

“The government behaves as if it does not have a huge majority”
I suspect they don’t given recent precedence on benefits. They would probably need to rely on Tory votes
August 22, 2025
Enoch Powell had two main topics of concern.
1. The EU
2. Immigration of aliens.
We all agree now.

The illegals in my local hotel are using the swimming pool health club i had to pay 800 pounds a year before they sacked all the staff and gave it all free to illegals they also have their own dentist and doctor
Thanks to the conservative and labour government’s shame on you all
August 23, 2025
The list of “freebies” they get, courtesy of British taxpayers, is absolutely outrageous – and the CONs are just as culpable as Labour.
August 23, 2025
Our great country has a potentially great future. but there are so many gloomy, pessimistic voices from the left, right and middle. Lots of criticism. But no real positive vision or hope.
People need to cheer ( up ed)
