Labour has done its best to align the UK with the EU’s high rates of youth unemployment and has now succeeded, and with the EU’s higher unemployment rate where it is almost there. How has it done it?
1. Ban on all new oil and gas, destroying and failing to create many high productivity high paid jobs. In line with EU decarbonisation policy.
2. Ban on all new petrol and diesel car output by 2030, a more severe version of an EU policy, destroying many UK factories and jobs.
3. Dear energy prices under an EU type emissions trading and carbon tax scheme, leading to mass closures in petrochemicals, plastics, paper, cement, ceramics, steel etc
4. Coming adoption of more anti food growing farm policies from EU sources on top of anti food UK grant schemes
5. Giving away 12 years of our fish to EU, preventing rebuild of UK fishing industry
6. High taxes on employment and business premises destroying jobs in shops, leisure centres, hospitality and entertainment – UK policies
7. Imports first policy in craven negotiations over trade with China and EU where we already run huge deficits. Imports cut GDP.
8. Productivity collapse and huge losses in the public sector hold the UK back and keep borrowing, taxes and interest rates too high.Home made disaster.
February 16, 2026
These disastrous outcomes, Sir John, we know about. We know they are either on the way or already here. The question is what do we do about it and what do we do about the long wait until the next general election by which time Labour’s scorched earth policy will have achieved exactly what it intends it to achieve – the destruction of our once great United Kingdom and our subsumation and subservience to the EU?
February 16, 2026
You need to go back to Victoria’s era to justly use ‘Great’.
February 16, 2026
As I said, the ONCE great United Kingdom.
February 16, 2026
Not so. Great refers to the biggest of the British Archipelago – however our fathers and grandfathers justly earned the title in their own right.
They are not called ‘The Greatest Generation’ for nothing.
February 16, 2026
Tell that to those fathers and grandfathers back from the W1 and WW2 and ask ‘does it still feel Great’?
February 17, 2026
The fact that WE have failed does not detract from their Greatness.
The fact that you try to push your failure onto them – who are now dead – speaks to the real nastiness of this era.
February 16, 2026
Kathy, as far as Starmer’s Gang is concerned there will not be another general election and there is nothing you or I can do about it.
February 16, 2026
PG,
Labour have just abandoned delays to local elections after legal action. They may be unable to suppress everything that does not suit them.
February 16, 2026
Did you see the local elections are all back on?
February 16, 2026
The British people are making up their minds.
It’s a funny atmosphere, I remember it before Brexit. Instead of me discussing politics, everyone else is opening these subject with real-time details, a commentary. They are not content.
The politicians are unwise to confront us with these deliberate attacks. Broadcasts from Mosques lauding alien culture is very counter-productive.
Even the King is being confronted and challenged and mocked. This is unprecedented in my experience.
A friend who works on the oil rigs in the North Sea has had 4 successive contracts cancelled. He told us Aberdeen is basically in collapse.
February 16, 2026
Restore Britain has 50,000 paid up members in 24 hours.
Their offering is unlike anything I have ever seen before.
Somebody has pointed out that Lowe’s secret strategy is saying what everyone is thinking.
This has pointedly moved Reform policy evidenced by interviews at the weekend. Kemi is aligning and supporting the private Lowe MP initiative of the Rape Gang Inquiry even as Parliament rejects an Inquiry.
Britain is moving fast and the brighter politicians are running to catch up. So it’s not just me to feels this decisive change. The feedback on the doorstep to Labour in Manchester is apparently brutal, Labour canvassers are shocked by the response of their own erstwhile supporters. Certainly nothing like any responses we have ever had even when we were canvassing in the direct aftermath of Mrs Thatcher’s departure when the Conservative voters were very angry, or canvassing for Peter Bone in Ebbw Valley known as ‘little Moscow’.
February 16, 2026
‘Restore Britain has 50,000 paid-up members in 24 hours’ according to …. rupertlowemep Facebook page.
As Michelle says (her ‘if’ comment below): if this can ever be checked independently and proved correct that’s a worthwhile piece of news. If not, that’s just …
February 16, 2026
We don’t care what you think or what proof you require.
This has nothing to do with you.
This is a British affair.
We know what is happening in Britain.
I have friends who have been bloody depressed for decades phoning and happily asserting that they have just joined the ‘Cromwell Club’ (an annual donation of more than £2,500.00j. One friend phoned from Canada exultant having joined. A friend in Ireland asserted that ‘The U.K. has found it way’ and lamented that they were yet to find theirs.
I know many have donated into the 5 figures. And we are proud to be associated. I have not been proud of a political association since Mrs Thatcher drove out of Downing Street!
This is a clear out of ALL the failed political class. I have asserted that was needed on this blog long since. I never thought it would be on offer.
Thank God!
February 16, 2026
hefner
Reform have just claimed the Government is about to do yet another U turn and is reversing plans to cancel some local elections.
Presumably you need this to be “checked independently and proved correct” before you will believe it.
February 16, 2026
What has that to do with Restore Britain’s number of members? Please explain.
February 16, 2026
It is example of a current event which is similar to the one you refused to accept without verification.
Seems obvious to me.
February 16, 2026
You referrenced Michelle ( below) in your post hefner.
As I said to her, an internet search showed a government website (.gov) showing the claim of above inflation welfare benefit increases to be true.
February 17, 2026
How limited you appear to be not to understand that Labour changing their mind about local elections is a Yes or No event whereas claiming 50,000 new paying members in a day, being a quantitative statement, is much more difficult to prove without a proper check.
But obviously this type of distinguo is clearly out of your comprehension.
February 17, 2026
As usual your response concentrates on attacking the individual rather than the issue.
But we are used to it from you hefner.
PS
Checking if the 50,000 figure is correct isn’t impossible.
I’m surprised you didn’t try.
February 16, 2026
Amazing that 50,000 would pay to join a ‘secret strategy’. What if the secret is to speed up rejoining as a serf to the EU, nuclear disarmament, support for Russia’s invasion? Are you saying they/we don’t have a clue what the strategy is?
February 16, 2026
You did not read what I said.
His ‘secret strategy’ IS TO SAY WHAT EVERYONE IS THINKING’.
That’s why this instantaneous connection.
February 16, 2026
I think Nigel got there first!!
February 17, 2026
Mickey … oh!
Demanding deploying the Army to force vaccinate everyone.
Demanding that the U.K. take its fair share of Syrian ‘refugees’?
‘We lost the Brexit Referendum but we will not accept the result and fight on?’
Rupert Lowe has dementia.
Etc eTc etc
You are a disgrace!
February 16, 2026
MT,
It is probably like Jimmy’s secret army in ‘The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin’.
Hopefully they can get the trains to run on time :-
‘ Eleven minutes late signal failure at Vauxhall ‘ etc, etc.
February 17, 2026
If any party launched and got 50,000 members in the first day the MSM should be asking why. Even GBNews is too institutionalised to ask why – there is a reason, it’s the POLITICS.
Eventually Farage’s ( friend ed)had to interview one of the rising stars. You should watch it if you feel you can hold your breath long enough.
But we don’t care, the whole nation knows who the enemies are. Political class, instititions and MSM.
Look about you and see what they have done to our great nation.
February 16, 2026
I’m getting the same down here in Dorset. Friends who are usually uninterested in politics are talking about the consequences of Two-Tier’s disastrous policies.
February 16, 2026
I believe it’s countrywide. It was before the Brexit vote when the whole nation made up its ‘collective’ mind.
They all felt relieved and the tension, the angst was lost. They spoke openly because they knew what they would do, and what they wanted to do.
I believe the lion is stretching and yawning, and looking for her cubs!
February 16, 2026
Donna, the MSM AS A WHOLE ignored the launch of Restore Britain. Not a word in the papers or on the TV, even GB News completely blanked it.
Getting 50,000 in 24 hours (much more now) based solely on X, Instagram and Facebook is truly a breakthrough event!
February 16, 2026
Lynn you need to realise that the MSM don’t jump when one upset loser starts a new party plus one fervent groupie sings their praises.
February 16, 2026
Totally and entirely predicatably disastrous!
February 16, 2026
Every person out of work with little prospect of (or desire to) get a job is probably considered more likely to vote Labour. So from their viewpoint, unemployment isn’t such a bad thing.
February 16, 2026
Especially if benefits are raised well above inflation levels, if what I read the other day is true.
I always say ‘if’ because until satisfactorily confirmed then to take anything you read at face value these days is naive.
Journalism, like so much else here now is in the gutter.
Likewise, having as many people on the state payroll as possible can ensure a vote or two.
February 16, 2026
Michelle
If you do an internet search…”benefits above inflation”.. you will see on the Government website that it is true.
February 16, 2026
Indeed and (as they know they have almost zero chance at the next election) they have an incentive to leave as big an economic mess for the next government as possible. They seem to be very good at this as JR’s short list of disasters shows – it could easily be enlarged to 10+ times the size.
Is is surely deliberate vandalism rather than incompetence!
February 16, 2026
“Labour’s job destruction machine” – just Rayner’s mad workers right bill (the right never to get offered a job in many cases) is appalling vandalism, as are the increased minimum wage levels (actually in effect another huge tax increase for employers). Rayner depressingly the 5/2 favourite to replace the dire, dishonest, economic vandal that is two Tier Kier. The man who keeps absurdly claiming Farage is Pro-Putin even he surely cannot believe this this?
February 16, 2026
They can’t pay. If they could keep paying for their votes they would be like a pig in the proverbial. But there’s no money.
The election is dictated by the weighted tax rises set out by the genius Reeves. All give away now, and they have to go to the country before that massive pain.
So 2028 – latest?
February 16, 2026
Labour isn’t just a job destruction machine. They’re destroying our Sovereignty, society, culture, national cohesion, energy security, food security and our FUTURE.
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”
― Taylor Caldwell, A Pillar of Iron
February 16, 2026
@ Donna
A very accurate summation of where we are… enemies within! Traitors, indeed!
February 16, 2026
Donna:
Correct. And we don’t know everything that is happening now that our judiciary are colluding with government and the Civil Service to hide their actions using super injunctions.
February 16, 2026
Importing cheap labour an huge increases in minimum wages such that hiring trainees is uneconomic.
Signposting draconian changes in employment rights thus reducing the attractration of training new workers in case they don’t work out.
February 16, 2026
Not very good my Lord is it? What are we going to do about it?
February 16, 2026
At least our Ange likes pubs n clubs and might do summat to stop em closing. She might like factories too and put Ed (out of harms way Ed). Cum on Ange and get (Starmer out Ed)
February 17, 2026
Well Ange is clear favourite now well ahead of Streeting (who will surely not even win his seat at the next election), Miliband and Mamood. Her tax issue was clearly a genuine mistake and not a crime (same as Reeves’s housing issue) but then she also had her posh ipods issue. She certain is more human than than Starmer and has more of a feel for the electorate but then a block of wood would have. But her policies are likely to be equally mad her Angela Rayner championed the Employment Rights Bill 2025 “New Deal for Working People” a total disaster for working people making so many more of them unemployed as we see today.
Where does she really stand on Net Zero, Chagos, the anti-jobs and anti growth agenda…
I see that NHS adverts are now being increased hugely – might it not be better to spend this on operations and cancer treatments though they can still do sex change ops for non nationals I note. Is there some election coming up perhaps! Is this political use of tax payers money legal?
February 16, 2026
It started with the last Tory(Pseudo socialist) government on a much smaller scale, but this labour government have done their best to accelerate every soul destroying mechanism to bring on economic ruin.
Their definition of growth is more big brother, more state interventions and more crippling taxes.
Socialists have never been good at running an economy because they want to bring in so many laws to watch and control us while wiping out the desire within us to function and produce with their moves to provide a state income to everyone, but it’s their ideology that has done the greatest damage.
Following the EU is a get out, because once labour’s irrational ideology has been set in place they have nothing left, innovation will have gone down the drain by then, so making us subservient to a greater power absolves them of all responsibility for everything.
February 16, 2026
It is of course so much more easy to follow the dictats of the EU than face up to the difficult actions needed to put right the political failings of many years that are necessary to get the British economy and polity in good order again. This Government, and its leader in particular, certainly does not have the stomach for it. And getting ‘closer to the EU’ gives all those wonderful opportunities to be seen on TV standing next to Mrs Von der Leyden.
February 16, 2026
Give Labour credit, they have increased the size of the State exponentially. Along with State spending. The UK Parliament its Government is spending over £3.35bn on State AI projects. Over £1bn alone to Microsoft for AI to make the offices of the State more efficient and productive.
How are the doing it, by reducing the capability of the Nation to earn and pay for their ideological whims.
Of note the Civil Service is kicking back and resiting the already paid for AI in their departments as it could lead to unemployment amongst it members.
The Unions the beneficiaries of these Labour Government give-aways are able to contribute even more to Labour’s campaigning war chest(The largest in the country, more than all the others put together) that their gang boss can use to blackmail through the party whip the majority of MPs in Parliament.
February 16, 2026
@Ian B – is the taxpayer being forced to distort democracy?
From Wikipedia(not saying they are correct but they have a point) election manipulation, election scam, voter fraud, vote rigging, or election engineering. In many cases, it is possible for authorities to artificially control the composition of an electorate in order to produce a foregone result.
Taken in the round, cancelling elections, what can only be seen for the most part as syphoning off taxpayer money to fund election campaigns. The pressure for 16 year old’s to be given the vote while banning them for seeing the Internet.
Parliament the defenders of Democracy appears to have taken its fight to the people even further, wanting to control how they are judged, or ensure they are not judged or held to account. It is Parliament all 650MPs that are causing the UK to disintegrate into being a third world back-water style dictatorship. They are not ask questions of themselves let alone their personal actions.
February 16, 2026
How can one man starmer do this to the uk
Where are the conservatives ? the lib dem
Reform why are they allowing to let we can trust democracy taken away the EU will destroy the uk and starmer will help them
What’s becoming of the uk
John you are a man of good words but we need action there is not a party that tell the truth or that trust
February 16, 2026
@George sheard – it called a massive majority and being able to whip all dissenters into order by the Gang Boss that holds the purse string for and MPs future campaign funds. Democracy cancelled by those you, we, thought were there to defend it
February 16, 2026
But many many u-turns!
February 16, 2026
Labour destroying the country. Twas ever thus.
February 16, 2026
You do not exagerate. The real question is
what, within the bounds of legality, can be done about it.
Sow dissention within the Labour party and government, beyond what they already enjoy, to functionally slow them down or bring them to a halt.
Those forces brought to bare on the Truss government should be encouraged to bring about the demise of Labour. They should by now have realised that the past and current path they are taking is of no benefit to a thriving economy, without which no political faction can succeed. I am surprised that the socialist wrecking ball has been tolerated for so long.
Short of revolution, which is anathema to the British, we can resort to mass public demonstration and dissent until the whole rotten Starmer edifice self implodes.
February 16, 2026
Have you seen Lowe’s agenda? Please read it.
February 17, 2026
Can’t spare the time reading comics, sorry.
February 16, 2026
But the forces that destroyed the Truss Government are surely just the ones that are supporting Labour, and directing its policies from within the Treasury. They are therefor most unlikely to do to Starmer what they did to Trss.
February 16, 2026
@William Long – supporters, of course they are. Truss was screwed because to get the country up and running there were quite a few at the top of the system, the in their dreams elite, could see their jobs evaporating.
February 16, 2026
One of the few things Starmer has been honest about is his ambition to make the UK so closely aligned with EU regulation there is no difference.. His Gang is riddled with Fabians who believe sovereign states should be replaced with a global socialist order. The EU is seen as an ideal vehicle to that end. The economy is of secondary concern.
February 17, 2026
+1
February 16, 2026
# All government allowing foreign student to work
# Allowing illegal immigrants to work ie delivery scooters
# Allowing fake high street shops to flourish
# Allowing fake qualifications & certificates in construction, driving & security
February 16, 2026
Nigel fought Starmer with the Law and THE LAW WON!
February 16, 2026
The government has abandoned plans to delay 30 council elections in England following legal advice.
Local Government Secretary Steve Reed had approved delays for the ballots until 2027 to help deliver a major reorganisation which will see some local authorities abolished.
Reform UK had launched a legal challenge against the plans to delay May’s elections, which was due to be heard in the High Court on Thursday. The move was welcomed by opposition parties, who had branded the delays undemocratic.
February 16, 2026
Another day another reversal…. ‘U’ turn. Local elections, democracy can now take place. Sorry to note it was only reversed because the legal actions of the ‘Reform Party’ meant that the Government would loose the Court case.
Disturbing! This affront to Democracy by Parliament, its chosen Government and other parties its costs(reforms Legal costs) is not to be paid for by the ‘distractors’, those that wanted the cancellation but by the beleaguered Taxpayer.
These endless mistakes are cost free to those making them. It is the Taxpayer that endlessly has to pick up the bill, it is the taxpayer that has to wait out the ridiculous undemocratic 5 years terms before they can have a voice as to the cost being dumped on them.
February 16, 2026
Scrolling through YouTube I came across Mr. Rubio’s speech to the Munich Security Conference. Found it a breath of fresh air and logic that, applauded by many, must have given the EU and Starmer a knife in the gut realisation that for too long they have been heading in the wrong direction. I see no way out for Starmer, the Millipede and the negative intellects he leads.
Then while enjoying a scotch egg I got the very positive announcement from GBNews that the Starmer rabble had lost the court case against their move to cancel many local elections and Reform had prevailed. Apart from HMG this leaves egg on the face of the leader of the opposition for going along with the cancellation idea.( Lie, loto opposed the cancellation throughout Ed) Ed Davey, stunt pilot as ever, said he had been fighting against cancellation. He has got to be the biggest pseud in UK politics. Never forget the Post Office fiasco that he led.
Everything considered Monday has been a surprisingly good day.
February 16, 2026
Sorry Sir John
Some events just seem to come to the top, from Guido –
‘No10 Political team internally oppose ‘Boys Club’ Chagos deal and ask Starmer for U-Turn’
https://order-order.com/2026/02/16/exc-no10-political-team-internally-oppose-boys-club-chagos-deal-and-ask-starmer-for-u-turn-as-powell-exits/
It would appear that if you are not to be trashed in the elections, you might just have to listen to those doing the voting
February 16, 2026
The Government will continue making the changes necessary to bring us back to the doorstep of the EU then the GE election will throw up an either Labour government or else Reform with its reform policies in place that will put UK so far outside of everything happening around us that it’ll be a Britain stand alone – a wilderness
