The government’s priorities

We now can see this government’s priorities. It is revealing to see how they wish to waste their limited supply of political capital.

1. Stop rich people giving money to rival political parties

2. Impose thousands of asylum seekers on small villages, overriding local opinion and Council planning powers.

3. Press on with give away of Chagos

4. Make more concessions to the  EU against UK interests without getting anything back we want

5. Continuing the big increase in benefits for life for young people, removing the need for them to look for a job

6.Increasing the tax take from petrol and diesel by insisting on full VAT on the higher oil price, making the cost of living crisis worse

7. Accelerating the closure of our oil and gas industry by banning exploration, delaying production decisions on proven reserves and imposing penal tax levels

8. Failing to follow up the announcement of the end of rough sleeping with plans to impose a national solution in a policy area where Mayors and Councils have powers

9. Failure to explain how they will get to defence spending at 3% of GDP by 2030, the amount the Chancellor said was essential.

10. The failure to smash the gangs or stop the boats.

    Many more damaging policies too.

See the latest New Culture Forum podcast. Labour EU reset will cost billions AND make us subservient to the EU.

Labour’s EU reset is the UK government’s strategy to improve and rebuild cooperation with the European Union. But how much do we REALLY know about it? In her explosive report “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER”, economist Catherine McBride OBE explodes many of the claims made by Labour about the benefits its EU Reset will bring and reveals the astounding costs and surrenders the UK will make if Labour gets its way.

The total cost of the Thirlwall Inquiry has reached more than £18.5 million in public funds. Also about £5m in costs both sides for the 15 Lucy Letby convictions – all the convictions, in my view, totally wrong but most certainly all clearly unsafe. Yet 6 appeal court judges will not even grant her an appeal not even for any one of them.

What a sick rip and off joke (the now two tier too) legal system is. Are Court of Appeal judges and inquiry heads now appointed on Jason Arday criteria?

Justice Thirlwall herself sounds hugely unimpressive.

The hugely unimpressive Lady Justice Kathryn Thirlwall (in the Thirlwall Inquiry anyway) studied Modern Languages at Bristol before converting to law. Why do the government seem to think she is a suitable person to advise on how NHS maternity units might be better run. £39million that would have been far better spent on better and more staff at the many sick joke NHS maternity units perhaps rather than on lawyers.

CCTV over every cot might well do more harm than good and waste money that could be far more wisely spent.

CCTV over cots is a good idea, as long as footage is kept long term to review difficult cases.
the thing she misses is patients only being seen by consultants twice a week, it should be twice a day. and pediatrics and maternity need to be far better integrated, not organised separately.

I would have thought the medical staff would revolt over having to do their jobs under a state of legal jeopardy.
No one can work under circumstances where a simple mistake turns them into criminals.

Who is going to be a nurse in a premature baby unit now ?
One inconsequential mistake on CCTV and you could end up on a murder charge.
No-one in their right mind will do this job from now on.

Or a doctor or even a cleaner. Plus they need professional body permission to practice to this can also often be used to threaten and control them if they for example have Covid “vaccine” realism views or the females refuse to change with men in the changing rooms.

PERHAPS if they stopped spending so much on absurd enquiries (18 million or so) that start with the assumption (quite bogus in my view) that Lucy Letby is clearly guilty and a bit more on better management at our maternity units and our dire NHS structures things might improve.

Why are English and Law Graduate lawyers so hugely over paid relative to doctors and nurses?

I simply do not understand the thinking of so many MP’s now, because the policies they are supporting are so damaging to the future of our Country and its people.
I have lived within my means all my life, so why can the Country not live within its own, instead of borrowing and spending in my name, whilst forcing me to pay for that largess and incompetence.
Following the Party Line, often without debate, is not being loyal to the people who voted tfor them.
We are now an elected dictatorship without a rudder, and without any form of control.
It will all end in tears eventually, but not for those who make the rules that break us.

You do not have to as they are, by enlarge, irrelevant. They will do as they are told – end of !

I have lived within my means all my life . . .

Because you have to. Unlike the government, you do not have your own, ‘Magic Money Tree’ in the form of the BoE.

We are now an elected dictatorship . . .

No ! We are what is known as, “A managed democracy.” We get to vote on who gets to ignore us, so long as we allow them to do as they please. Think of it as a safety valve used to protect the Establishment 😉

    Good morning.

If you want to know the future, you must first look to the past. And the best places to look are where policies similar to those listed have been implemented. Places like, oh I do not know, Zimbabwe.

What we are witnessing is radical social engineering designed to destroy Capitalism and replace it with a larger state bureaucracy where, if you are not a servant of the State, you are in some way servile to it. ie Communism.

john, you mention illegal immigration quite correctly, but you miss the massive amount of legal immigration which is being rubber stamped and changing this country beyond all recognition. there is no support in the country for this. there is no support for the planned mass import of cheap labour, and the intentional refusal of the state to train our own population.

Yup, much as expected. At the last election I advanced in conversations what I thought should be an election winning strategy of saying: yes the Conservatives have failed on many fronts and deserve maybe 3/10 but Labour will be even worse. Everything the govt touches will be worse, and nothing will be better. I am surprised how many people, to whom this should have been quite obvious, are now surprised and disappointed.

The boss of Labour’s biggest union backer has called for a return to the 1970s with the public ownership of utilities and reindustrialisation of Britain. Did any of them live through the seventies? Did any of the take into account of what they thought of great industries were before nationalisation that were then successfully destroyed by their socialist ideal of State ownership once it came into play. The Industries went because the Unions and Labour destroyed them, its that simple – they destroyed them no one else. They created high costs, low productivity entities that couldn’t compete on the World Stage

Embedded Labour supporters? as of the second quarter of 2026, there are approximately 6.19 million people employed in the UK public sector an increase of 33,000 over the year. This governments public sector wage growth has been running higher than the private sector, averaging around 6.2% to 6.3%. While the Private sector is said to be flat at 2.9%.

In tune with the Daily Telegraph campaign picked up in other quarters the triple lock is expected to be 3.9% mainly due to the high wage rises of the Public Sector pushing wages inflation up.

Political motivated personal ego has consequence, especially when there is ‘no’ ability to think.

I’m sad to say we are witnessing the disintegration of our beloved country. Devolution started the rot costing billions without significantly improving the lives of Scottish and Welsh citizens. Nationally our revered institutions are failing, institutions vital to maintain the lifeblood of the nation. Why? Because government and parliament has failed to ensure our finances are properly managed, our borders are secure, our military is strong and law and order is properly maintained. Locally, across the country towns are decaying as local authorities fail to manage vital infrastructure. Burnham’s plans will increase the decay ruining the lives of millions by imposing a doctrine that failed decades ago. This is madness and must be stopped.

The destruction of our way of life is now about 60 percent complete I would say. It’s virtually irreversible and hasn’t been caused by the EU or a foreign enemy, but by the vast majority of our own elected politicians. The channel migrant crisis sums it up: MPs acquiescing in the open border policy have blood on their hands as they know the incomers have brought, and will continue to bring, appalling crimes including murder and rape.

An English way of life is no longer to be envied. The Americans and others can see that. Most of our own politicians simply don’t care.

Since socialism depends upon making and keeping people poor the priorities are clear. We’ve had socialism for 3 decades since PM Blair undermined democracy by passing powers to socialist headed quangos and the socialist judiciary. The following incoming governments with “heir to Blair” and “vote blue get green” selling pitches did nothing to reverse PM Blair’s damaging and anti-democracy changes and in fact ramped up his ideas of high wasteful spending to justify high taxation, made Net Zero by 2050 the law, the most damaging economic policy in our history, and allowed into the country millions of incompatibles to destroy our social cohesion. They even colluded with the socialist judiciary to import 40,000 under the cover of a super injunction. This government is simply continuing the Uniparty’s policies.

Youth Mobility Scheme: Will we facilitate loans for EU students ? If so, will the EU be required to underwrite the debt ?
Youth Mobility Scheme: We originally proposed international course fees for study – We lost that one and fees agreed to be same as our domestic ones.

  22. Bryan Harris

We now can see this government’s priorities.

Yes and they are far from honest or working for the benefit of the people of the UK.

This is not a government that will increase our potential or our resources, or even our personal wealth – they shy away from doing difficult things but have no qualms about imposing 2 tier justice or upsetting a friendly country we rely on. With their ideology running before them they are the true chaos merchants. Deep state corruption doesn’t even come into it, their socialist irrationality will be the end of us.

What sane government would pursue the policies listed?

There should be a health and wealth warning attached to all socialist parties but especially labour who have not just lost their way they have allowed their collective demons to rule their actions, and that alone makes them unfit for use.

Until we find a way to end the sickness that makes up the socialist psyche we will pay the price for their insanity.

Just a couple of things Lord John

The country is on it’s uppers. Labore have caused and perpetuaed this.

But maybe there can be a little light over the horizon.

    1) You will have noticed:
Nissan has pledged £170 million to build a new hybrid SUV in Sunderland on the condition that ministers weaken the electric vehicle sales mandate.
Maybe “they” will listen to you now.

    2) You recently received a report from me as to how the public health service in Singapore is (“co-“)financed. You didn’t send me any comment about that. Very disappointing. But now PLEASE REPLY this time. I have told you time & again how healthcare in Scandinavia and Netherlands (where I have personal experience of both) are CO-financed. (Simply put: taxation does the heavy lifting but visits to local GPs typically cost 20 euros, to specialists 30 euros. Patients with long-term ailments get a yearly ceiling, typically 200 or 300 euros).

Reply Thanks. I do not recommend the abolition of the key principle of the NHS, free care at the point of need.
