I am receiving too many contributions from the same blogger and too many long contributions. As you can see the numbers have escalated sharply recently. I will have to delete more if from the same person each day or if they are long. Please send me your best single contribution each day and keep it to around a paragraph, unless you have researched argument which is new. I am very busy with many matters of national policy and in the constituency.

Suggestion: most other forum formats like yours such as reddit, twitch etc have a select few trusted posters for each thread who have been around for a while who are made moderators and can delete any posts that are eg v inaccurate etc. Perhaps you might consider relieving some of the moderation work?

I have, and others, have commented here that there are an increasing number of Trolls on this Diary. It would not normally be a problem but, some of us are replying to them. I admit that I did so to one today but, usually I ignore them. I would suggest that other do the same as I am sure this would help our kind host.

The trolls have an MO – if they are ignored then their assertions can appear to the less gifted to have gone unchallenged. And everyone gets a vote, no mater how stupid.
It would be far better if the host developed a way to weed out /moderate such posts.

A very wise view, since so much nonsense viewed from either side is being written on here. I had almost decided to step away anyway. Just like the last 3 years’ evidence the subject cannot be resolved amicably, both sides are so implacable.

May I suggest you keep asking why people should want to stay in the EU? That seems to reduce contributions from the Remoaners.

I no longer read every comment as I used to as so many posts restate views previously written by the same posters. One can tell from the first couple of lines.
I admire your limited censorship on the site and would appeal to other posters to self censor for repeated content.
My other piece of advice to posters is to ignore the trolls for a day. If no one else has rebutted their incorrect scaremongering after 24 hours a brief response is apt so their fallacies do not go unchallenged.

I intend to withdraw for a while. I fear, Sir John, that your blog has been taken over by people with no manners and even less knowledge. You have been exemplary in affording them a fair voice, but I totally agree if you now intend to rule anything rude or offensive out of order, as well as anything that parrots the same points over and over, which has sadly become the norm. You have a right to exclude these vexatious comments; it’s your site.

I do note that the first thing in the morning, early poster changed quite some time ago. I am not sure if there is a battle to be first and set the tone for further comments.
I thought this site was tightly moderated anyway. Certain topics and comments are off limits and a few blatant ‘aunt sally’ posters are let through to encourage counter arguments.
