Sensible stuff as usual Sir John but the MPs are not listening to members. No chance of policy no chance. How many MPs was the foolish John Major left with. It was a landslide for Labour a 179-seat majority.
As you say no one (sensible) wants Labour/SNP government but with Sunak/Hunt/Gove we have effectively tax & regulate to death incompetent, climate alarmist socialists with open door immigration in power already.
Labour already in effect.

LL,
Agreed. The government are not listening and will plough on regardless.

Well said! And so is there a date when Mr. Sunak will stop the dithering, drift and back-tracking to provide delivery of his own stated aims or will the Cabinet oust him before that?

Good balanced answers with full reasoning; well communicated.

SirJ, you and your colleagues proclaim that you want immigration to be lower, the party manifesto publicise the commitment to reduce immigration, the PM has a pledge to stop the boats, the cabinet sells the conservative message on secure borders and individual Tory MPs interviewed by the media stated that immigration should be reduced …..why isn’t anything happening, why aren’t we stopping the boats, why aren’t we flying foreign criminals and illegals home, why aren’t we processing in Rwanda, why are we still members of ECHRs …Tory inaction is traitorous

GC,
One story for public consumption maybe?
Either way, the government definitely has a huge credibility problem after all these years. The problem goes far beyond immigration. Brexit has still not been delivered after all.

Migration Watch: According to official EU stats, in 2021 the whole of the EU took in 22,445 people as part of direct refugee resettlement schemes. In the same period, the UK took in 105,452 people—nearly five times as many.
90% of immigrants go to England, 6% to Scotland, 2% to Wales.
Suella Braverman calls for the UK to shake-off its dependence on cheap or cheap foreign labour. However, In 2022, 12,148 doctors with a foreign nationality joined the NHS in England compared with 13,516 British doctors. This is 73 per cent more than the number of British students who enrolled to train as doctors in English medical schools in the 2022-23 academic year. Yet 10,000 medicine applicants were rejected in 2022.
Are those doctors all receiving the same level of training 6 years before starting FY1?
