The Express link delivers a 404 result: searching its website does not yield any trace either.

I’m sure the organisers were very frustrated that 25 people were arrested. They were said to have warned everyone in advance that it must be peaceful and not allow people to goad you from counter-protests that were allowed dangerously close to the rally at Whitehall, according to a Sky story I read.

Peter Kyle condemned bad behaviour and said people who attacked and injured police officers “should and will pay a price”, of course, they should and did those who injured police officers at Notting Hill Carnival and Palestine Action protests get similarly tracked down and charged? I respectfully suggest the police release the figures of those numbers also arrested and charged otherwise the accusations of two tier policing will continue.

TThe link works. Sir John’s views on this demonstration are worth reading. I’ve seen estimates elsewhere suggesting 200,000 people attended. Obviously, not all of them were “far-right” – a lady from Liverpool attended in a wheelchair

I think the police estimate is based just on the numbers that managed to cram into Whitehall. Drone and helicopter footage shows there were very large numbers who never got there. Kathy Gyngell of TCW reports some were diverted as far away as Lambeth Bridge. Crowds were left on Westminster Bridge and all the way back through Stamford Street to Blackfriars, and there was overspill onto the Embankment too. The 1 million claim may not be so far off.

It is clear that Starmer was shaken by the size and good nature of the rally. His own desperate attempt to wrap himself in the Union Jack by placing it prominently behind him as he tried to mislead the public about the event only fools fellow travellers.

    Well said Sir John.

As for the protestors, “They above all wanted to feel in many areas of policy that law-abiding, taxpaying citizens came before international lawyers, political correctness and policies that harm UK prosperity and success” – one wonders where they acquired their taste for luxury! The established political class will continue to deny them of course.
