I hope my twenty five odd staff enjoy their holiday and wish the couple every happiness. But I will have to work harder in order to find the £10,000 or so for the days non production – thanks to Cameron’s bank holiday – and I did not even get an invitation.

I see Chris Huhne, on any questions, is making much of the “lies” regarding the additional costs of running AV counting. He then however goes on to imply, in relation to his own departmental activities, that the fact the wind turbine fail to generate much of the time is not a problem. Surely he is intelligent enough to understand that electricity produced, not on demand, is worth far less than that which is available as needed on demand. The former needs on demands back up. So the electricity is expensive to generate and worth less when generated.
He go on to say he has a turbine (green badge) on his house. Perhaps he could convince us by telling us the cost of his person turbine and how many net KWHours it has actually generated since installed. I would be very surprised if it exceeds 1% PA by (true) value as a proportion of the capital costs – even before depreciation and maintenance. Perhaps an engineer in his department could explain it to him.

Excellent wedding apart from the odd choice of Elgar good luck to them both.
I was however very surprised that “green” Prince Charles and his friends did not arrive on foot or by bike or at the very least a Prius. And surely the fly past is not very green, or were they all fuelled by organic oatmeal biscuits, perhaps?
Always amusing to see men in tall shiny gold mitres and gowns musing on God’s great “generosity” – have they not heard of the Japanese earth quake/tsunami, hurricanes, malaria, parasitic worms and all of the other generous gifts thus bestowed.
It was even described as “an eco friendly and green wedding” on TV something to do with the flowers/trees I think – true satire I assume.

I have very mixed reactions myself.
I must confess that I was moved almost to tears by the historic pageant of the dear old CofE in full flood. What memories it brought back. How grateful I was that Mr T Blair did not use it to upstage HM the Queen again (millenium, Queen Mother’s lying in State, Lady Diana’s funeral). Or that I didn’t have to seen his wife yawning in the front seats. It was magnificent and it went back hundreds of years. In our village, there is bunting everywhere and people watched it all on TV.
Just like the old times.

Yes but perhaps next time the “Liberals” should surely ensure there is a fare racial, gender, class, degrees of disability and sexuality mix in the potential candidates for the position of spouse to the future potential King or Queen.
Clearly some “Liberal” regulation needed to ensure any future prince only cavorts with a balanced selection of the above. A new department “A Royal Fairness Commission” is clearly urgently needed. Perhaps budget for £50M PA at least to deal with this vital pressing issue.

For me the most poignant moment of the day was when William twisted the ring a little the moment after he put the ring on to make sure his wife was comfortable. The details say so much.

Congratulations to the happy Royal couple, and good luck to them.
As an aside, what I saw, and felt, yesterday when the celebrations were in full flow, the flags waving, and people cheering and being happy as a NATION, was a large sigh of relief and outlet for frustrations after 13 years of Labour legislating and telling us we should be ashamed to be xenophobic little Britishers, flying the Union Jack was racist, and foreigners and ethnic minorities should take precedence; we were as a nation, for the first time in probably over a decade, OPENLY proud to be British and OPENLY proud to fly the Union flag. This is another reason why it was right that Brown and Blair were not there, amongst other notables of the same ilk.
Never let Labour gain power again.
