Happy Christmas

Will Santa come for me? May you all feel the excitement of Christmas.

( Here’s one I prepared earlier)

WILL SANTA COME TONIGHT?

“Will Santa come? Will Santa come tonight?”

“He might. He might.

If you are good, he might.”

“Can I stay up and see?”

“No. He will not come for you or me

If we do not sleep .

He’s too busy to meet us all.”

“And will he come for us?

If you go to sleep – he does not like fuss.”

Tonight, by the lights of the tree

There is, at last, some grown up time for me.

The cake is iced

The wine is spiced

The carrots diced.

The pudding’s steamed

The brandy butter  creamed.

The turkey prepared  awaits

And yes, I did clean  the plates.

The tree is up, the table laid,

the cards are out , though the bills unpaid!

So shall I soon with gifts a plenty

Mount the stairs to deliver twenty?

Do I dare to tread the stair?

And will it creak?

And will it creak?

When can I take a peek?

I need to know if they slumber

Before I arrive with my lumber.

If they are still awake

what dreams will go?

What heart might break?

Or do they know?

And is their belief just all for show?

So tonight by the magic tree

There is need of more time just for me

I will wait – and struggle to keep open my eyes

And  wrestle with the morality of eating  Santa’s mince pies.

My adult mind is full of Christmas chores

The cooking times, and the cards through neighbours’ doors

The parties where you cannot drink and go home by car

As that would be pushing Christmas luck too far

Drinks that might have been –  but not that cheap red

Which would give me a headache as soon as I got to bed

I was once a child too excited to sleep

with a torrent of thoughts  about what I might be given

Hoping that it was a toy beneath the wrapping –  should I peep? –

Not more socks or hankies, preferably something to be driven

So could Santa still come for me?

Drowsily I dream as if I were eight

Hoping that Santa would not be late

Like every little boy

There is of course a much wanted toy

So will Santa come tonight?

He might, He might.

If you sleep well

and if you believe

Only if you believe.

And only if in your family

Love fills the hours you will be spending.

It could be the true Santa on the stair

Or it could be someone from an  empty chair.

.

So will Santa come?

He will. He will.

Seconded. Alas only about 20% of MPs are fairly sound and JR must be in the top 1% of those being both consistently right and highly honorable. Many alas are crooks, self publicists, blatant liars who lie to get elected then do the opposite, expense fraudsters, abandon ship merchants like CAST IRON low tax at heart, some are career politicians who just want an income and good pension, many are “consultants” pushing through rules and laws to rip off the public and help their clients to profit (especially in the green crap and OTT health & safely racket and for the largely parasitic legal profession), many are idiotic socialists, and then we have people like Ed Miliband, McDonnall and Corbyn who would happily steal, devalue or confiscate yours and others property, shares, pensions and other assets just to buy the votes of others using your money.

Even though this will not actually help the poor and would destroy the economy.

The Queen urges us to treat people with more respect I see in her speech. Well some people deserve respect and some certainly do not.

Alas about 80% of current MPs certainly do not, most religions and preachers do not, T May and Philip Hammond certainly do not, many top civil servants and bureaucrats do not, climate alarmists fraudsters do not, most criminals do not, people who fail to sort out the appalling death causing NHS do not, people who live off the backs of others (unless seriously ill) do not ….. It is actually important that these people are disrespected.

This as otherwise you just encourage even more of them.

Ideed let us hope Appeaser May and Tax to Death Hammond together with the appalling Libdim wing of the Tory party do not ruin the New Year.

Christmas here, skiing in Italy with the enlarged family, is going very well indeed. Lovely snow and lots of sunshine – food excellent too. Did the green CO2 pollution loons not predict the end of Skiing in the Alps some years back, due to it being too warm? And the end of oil about 20 years back!

L/L. Ha,ha, yes. I can remember when we moved to Spain my father in law told us that we would be living in a desert within 10 years . That was 19 years ago and I don’t see that desert yet. They even had snow in Southern Spain and it was the first time anyone had seen it in their village. Whatever nature decides to do nothing we do will stop it. The whole scam is based on money and nothing more.

How can Father Christmas deliver presents in a no deal Brexit scenario? Baby, it’s cold outside (the EU).
“In the run up to 25th December, there is one issue that has not received half the attention it deserves: what happens to Father Christmas in December 2019 in the event of a no deal Brexit? The Europe leg of his trip is among his fastest and easiest. As citizen of a member state (Finland) he is able to whiz around the EU28 dropping off presents unimpeded by tariffs, quotas, veterinary checks, visas or permits.” (Sam Lowe at CER, worth a read.)

It is a known fact that for Santa to deliver all the presents all over the world his sleigh would need to move at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. Such speed would cause a heat build up because of passing through the atmosphere that the sled, reindeer Santa and all would be vaporised within 4 thousandths of a second.

Santa would also have to pull approximately 17,000G and survive forces in the region of 4,000lb.

If Santa did ever deliver presents on christmas eve, he’s dead now.

CHRISTMAS BRINGS THE GIFT OF LIFE TO TURKEYS

It’s a terrible time of year for Turkeys, and not so good for Geese either. On the hand the birds affected would never have lived at all, had their destiny not been pre-ordained.

So vegetarians and vegans think on. You are denying the birds a life. We all die sometime, but only a very small proportion of potential lives ever come into existence.

How much social life did a nut or a lentil ever have?

    1. Den
      December 25, 2018

Only within the EU do the turkeys get a vote on Christmas!

    2. margaret howard
      December 25, 2018

Baz – you completely miss the moral angle of eating another creature now that we have learned to feed ourselves healthily without killing another sentient being.

As for your claim that these birds are only alive thanks to us – think again.
Their existence precedes those of mankind by millions of years. We just harvest what was already there.

      Merry Christmas!

Another nice heart warming message from a True Brit. Have Elton John add his musical talents and we shall have a new National Christmas anthem for a EU Free British Christmas in 2019!
Many thanks John and you have just earned yourself and yours, a very ‘goodun’!

You are a star Mr Redwood, thank you for this blog and all you do.

My mum filled in for Santa when he was busy, one night she stubbed her foot on my bed and said Damm very loudly! That was my first inkling!

Trump appointed Powell Chair of the Fed, Feb 2018..”he’s a great guy” and “fabulous guy” and now after a few months later, he says, Powell is completely to blame for all of the turmoil in the financial markets.. jeez.. it might be merry Christmas for some but I just wonder when are we ever going to be shut of this Trump clown fool who seems to be single-handedly bent on bringing the whole financial world to crisis- and yes, there are people in this country too who look forward to a trade pact with the US as being the way to go- but I say, ‘out of the pan, into the fire’, Can’t help thinking that all of our woes are self inflicted- what was it M Gove once famously said about there being too many experts? so probably this is the year to forget- am going back to bed.
